Gasoline heading to $3 and more

One of the better points so far. This is why farmers/ranchers are switching to "organic" chicken and beef. So instead of using oil to make gasoline, we use it to make fertilizer in an attempt to produce enough E85 feedstock, AND we use up all our farm land. Great idea!:)

Gasoline heading to $3 and more

Nope, straight off the GM website is the claim that E85 cars have about a 25% reduction in MPG. That is a pretty big reduction, especially when you consider that E85 currently costs more to buy. So by using E85 people are spending upwards of 30% more on gas. Also, the current production of...

Riskarb's combo to fly conversion journal

A word of caution on INFY. This isn't a normal earning report. They are discussing a stock bonus to be announced at the earnings conference. These bonuses have been very generous in the past. This one could do wierd things with the price action and IV.

You guys discussing this reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend a while back regarding religion. :D This is similar in that we concluded that the answer to the debate (does God exist or not) will be determined when we die. In this case, the answer will be made known during a...

The "haves" and the have "N.O.T.S." (Novice Options Traders)

Because it will probably be mentioned sometime.... Some prefer DEBIT spreads which, when properly constructed are technically the same as the credit spread. (i.e. an OTM credit spread = an ITM debit spread with the same stikes) The difference you'll notice is that you don't recieve the...

The "haves" and the have "N.O.T.S." (Novice Options Traders)

Yes, with CREDIT spreads the Cash Balance of your account goes up because of the premium you recieve. You'll notice however, that the Net Liquidating Value has decreased by the amount of the commissions you paid. This merely reflects the idea that the credit recieved only exists at a...

Gasoline heading to $3 and more

It has to do with the idea that you lose gas mileage to get a vehicle moving from a stand still. Once it is moving, you don't need to give it much more. The city driving comparison is more representative of the size of the two cars. Mini Cooper weight is a bit more than half of the Yukon...

Well that turned out to be a rather uneventful earnings report. Support is holding for now, so I'm just going to sit it out a bit longer.:)

It should be noted that almost all of the strategies that have been elluded to thus far have been nickles and dimes strategies. Selling FOTM or buying Deep ITM. We haven't yet seen what kind of trades the advisories are going to throw at him. There are just as many strategies out there based...

The "haves" and the have "N.O.T.S." (Novice Options Traders)

Hey, it's a convenient way of convincing ourselves that we weren't wrong when we entered the position. Afterall, part of the strategy was to roll at a certain point. No harm no foul right?!? haha:D In all seriousness though.... these "adjustments" are a very useful tool and should be...

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Your analysis is correct. My comment was based on my experience in which a company that rallies really hard against the market just before an earnings release, drops once the news comes out. I don't know if this is due to overzealous expectations or something else, but it does seem to...

The "haves" and the have "N.O.T.S." (Novice Options Traders)

Adjusting a spread usually involves closing out the spread and opening a new one with different parameters. For example, a vertical roll. In reality you aren't adjusting the original position, you're cutting losses on the first and opening a new one to make up for those losses. the idea is...

IMO, events like this play themselves out more slowly so the drop is more steady and you will have time to get out or adjust. It is the unexpected events that cause real problems for FOTM spreads. Iran causing problems will cause a drop but not a crash. Iran building its first nuke...

Banning Illegal immigrants? Wouldnt that destroy the US economy

People that work for minimum wage do have a choice. They will always have a choice with the numerous social programs that we have. That's not to say that the other options are any better though. If I were in that situation, I would do everything in my power to provide for myself before I...
