    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Haven't looked at BTU for a while. I have been looking to open a bullish position in AAPL and also thinking about adding to my MRVL position.

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

cnmns, Good intraday analysis, you called the jump perfectly. For a swing trade though, I'm still gonna wait for the breakout above 34.

Mind if I ask what you are using as an entry signal?

Yep, but that credit isn't good enough.:(

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

I was trying for some additional 1340/1350 calls, but I couldn't get filled before the drop today. We'll see where we're at tomorrow, maybe I'll open the put side.

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Been trying to open some SPX call spreads this morning but I couldn't get filled. I might end up having to leg in if I want to get a good credit.

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

I like the setup, but it is too risky right now. I'm gonna wait with you for the right timing to open a position. Either a break above 34 or below 32.:) I've also got my eye on AAPL, AMD, and CHK. Also looking to add more SPX spreads within the next couple days.:)

    Earnings Plays?

Sorry G-girl, my comments were directed to tj1320 who started this thread. From your comments it does sound like you are more familiar with options trading. tj1320 sounds like a beginner, and the proposed strategy is very dangerous for him/her. Hence, the comments above. :D

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I think this is what is hoped for to make the VIX hedge successful.:) When it comes down to it, any fairly quick but steady, sustained move in either direction; the ones that are hurt the least are those of us who place our spreads closer to the underlying. Is that one of the reasons you like...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I think this really depends on what your strategy is for adjustment. It seems that for the most part the traders on this journal prefer to roll the entire position when the underlying approaches the short strike. If this is the intended strategy then I would have to say that 5-10 point spreads...

    Earnings Plays?

Just a couple of comments from someone who has quite a bit of experience with what your are suggesting in your first couple posts (albeit that was quite a while ago before I learned how to trade options more efficiently). More often than not the IV is over-inflated before the earnings...

    BigTrends.... is it cheating?

This topic is discussed on another thread called "the haves and the have N.O.T.S" in the options forum.

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

By the look of todays action, you could be right. This is why I kept the size of this position small and stuck with the 50 strike. I have a stop in mind, so we'll see what happens during the next couple days.:)

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Most of this account is in cash right now and earnings are pretty much behind us. I'll be looking for any good ATM spreads. If anyone knows of a couple potential tickers, feel free to list them.:D

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Up so far. I was able to get the bear call in time before the big drop yesterday too, so the pullback didn't take any of my profits away.:)

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Rally, It's always interesting to read your posts, because it usually sounds like I wrote them. We share a lot of the same opinions. I think we also look for similar setups. Kind of weird sometimes when you take the words right out of my mouth.:) Cache

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Credit spreads will be around for years to come, and they are a valuable tool in trading options. I prefer to have a few different choices when trading though. I'm not against debit spreads, long calls/puts, or other combos. When I find a stock/index setup that I like, I then determine what...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

The trending/rangebound market is really a double-edged sword right now. It's easy to make some money selling premium, but the low volatility reduces those premiums. The most important thing is to decide what suits your personality. The more "aggressive" style isn't better or worse than the...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I've mentioned a couple trades on here. Also, I keep a journal on a different thread. I started that journal from the standpoint of the small account novice, and based it on a $10,000 beginning account balance in Feb. Admittedly though, I have been trading options for the better part of a...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Yes, just the spread. But the credit isn't necessarily equal on both sides of the IC. I like to time my entry, so sometimes I don't get as much for the latter spread. My target return is based more on the initial spread. What I recieve from completing the IC is just a bonus.:)
