Nearly Random Entry vs a High Probability Entry

If there were such a thing as a true random entry, at that moment price would need to have an even 50/50 probability of going up or down, and then you could flip the coin and go with either long or short and get the random entry. I presume this is what dbphoenix was referring to. To the...

    Which Strat to use..

#2 is better There are trade simulators available that run off live data and give realistic fills. You might try looking through the freelance tools on the Interactive Brokers forum for ideas. If you do go live, first research max loss, max drawdown and max # of consecutive losing trades...

Is NQ liquid enough to scalp 10 contracts ?

To NQ traders, how has the NQ been holding up as far as trading opportunities, and average range with this summer's range contraction?

    T-REX Journal

Actually there is something else that would be much more valuable to us than what you describe. Rather than fully describing his methods, providing insights and reasons behind his trades and instead of posting a bunch of charts with a ton of indicators on them that might confuse the issue even...

Is 30 Seconds Too Short a Timeframe?

This isn't probably what you were looking to hear but regardless of what timeframe chart you have on your screen, as soon as you enter your position your risk is the same as someone looking at hour bars, daily bars or weekly bars. In other words, looking at shorter term bars doesn't actually...

    Ignore

I was recently updating my ignore list when I ran upon the following:

    40yotrader

I stand corrected. I went back through his posts and confirmed that it is a martingale MM strategy (increase bet size while in a drawdown). A quote from his trading plan: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10118

rlb, If you weren't a woman and if Cathy weren't such a gentleman, I'm sure he'd belt you for that remark!

    CME E-quotes, or something comparable?

I tried MarketSound a while ago when it was free. Basically you get a simulated pit of alternating louder and quieter voices shouting "buy em" and "sold". It was distracting to me but that doesn't mean there is no value there.

    40yotrader

If you reread his thread you'll see he uses an anti-martingale strategy where he increases size when he is winning. Quite the opposite of upping size on a drawdown. Check out: http://www.casino-help.com/systems/anti-martingale.php

    Baron has NO clue

Good question. Example of Great Moderating in Action Magna moderates the Journals forum. In that forum he does a good job of chopping out posts that are clearly off topic, and steering the discussions back on target. It makes sense to do this in the Journals forum because stuff posted that...

    Baron has NO clue

I didn't think I ever "uncut" the moderators a little slack. Maybe you should reread my first post. And just so there is no misunderstanding, let me spell it out. The ones to blame for causing the disruption are the detractors in this case, and certainly not Baron who is just trying to keep the...

    Baron has NO clue

It took too much time - I didn't feel that I was able to continue doing a good job of it because I started spending less and less time on ET. I still just skim a few threads here and there, mostly anything in Index Futures, jokes thread, a couple of journals, stuff in Tech Analysis and Strategy...

    Baron has NO clue

Let me be brief. This is like a basketball game where one player elbows another, and the ref calls the foul on the one who reacts to the elbow. It's justice of a sort, just not enlightened justice. I'd be willing to bet that the ones who have been complaining about Jack are the ones who...

    Traders Cant Beat The Market

Just my .02, this thread should actually be called: "Traders can't beat buy and hold" or "Traders can't outperform the S&P 500" Beating the market is simply the wrong paradigm because the market never loses. Call me Mr. Semantics but that's my .02.

The amazing thing is that there are only a few unique people posting in this thread. Someone must sure enjoy talking to himself! And I've got all of him on ignore. :D :D

    Draw-Down Analysis

Commisso: nice to see you back. I knew you'd be into OPM before too long. Did you check out the thread Pabst did to honor the wisdom of Publias Enigma? It's nice to read the insightful classics again, and to realize that the good stuff keeps on working...
