    Hedge Wind Down

Most hedge funds close because investors are pulling out funds. Seldom is lack of opportunities the real reason, especially when fund managers can earn guaranteed management fees even when they lose money. However, it does make sense for fund managers who do not charge management fees to close...

Another big Chicago trading name exits

When money is not enough, work is a way to make money. When money is enough, then humans will seek work that gives them higher satisfaction or what you say higher calling. It is unrealistic to seek work for higher satisfaction when money is not enough. This is what people who adopt the...

The code behind the automation still needs to be changed from time to time because market changes. You still need to be mentally agile even with full automation.

Another big Chicago trading name exits

I agree. But if someone manages other people's money, he should be mindful of his age and the risk that age will wear off his performance and cause him to lose other people's money.

$3m for his fund or for himself? He was wearing a nice watch when he apologised to his investors. I think he is still doing quite well personally.

How can Altria stock go up 71000% since 81% when U.S cigarette consumption dropped 44%? This question is more suitable for value investors. This may not be the right question to ask on an elitetraders forum but I assume many of you traders here have more than one trick up your sleeve. I...

Wall Street Rule for the #MeToo Era: Avoid Women at All Cost

Wall Street Rule for the #MeToo Era: Avoid Women at All Cost

In modern times, ugly fat pigs have an edge over gorgeous babes in the workplace. Male bosses feel safer with ugly fat pigs and will be more willing to spend time with them. I foresee businesses making money from cosmetics and looking good to report poorer earnings going forward.

U.S wants Mike Lynch to pay back 800m of gains from selling Autonomy

I agree. As long as American money has been cheated, the American government has a duty to punish whichever foreigner who did the cheating. The question is ... if the fine is too heavy and foreigners perceive as they are being discriminated, it will affect future foreign investments. What that...

Energy-Focused Hedge Fund Brenham Capital to Close

Sorry to hear about another hedge fund closure. Having been through psychologically draining drawdowns before, I have sympathies for hedge fund managers who have to close down their funds because of drawdowns. I wonder what are the truly bizarre stock action in the energy sector that caused...

In a Bad Year for Hedge Funds, These Are the Worst Performers

Julian Robertson was killed by the dot-com boom. He lost money when almost everyone else was making lots of money. Easy money then even for inexperienced retail investors. I would expect earnings to be more consistent if he hedged properly. Nevertheless, I'm sure he is a better investor than me...
