    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

Murdoch himself said that he did not want to interfere with the reporting. If he values his integrity he'll appoint someone independent, or better yet appoint someone else to make the appointment.

    UFPT - lololol

I've been enjoying the ride on this thing for a while now and guess what I see today? A message on Google from Tim Sykes saying this thing can't go down. Fuck.

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

This is bad. Ironically, today is the first day I've recieved delivery of my subscription. I've always bought at the newsstand. Murdoch must be getting ready to do something, that's why this guy is walking out after just four months.

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

Is there a group or club for WSJ print subscribers? maybe we should form one and put a shot across Murdoch's bow. Our logo could be a circle and slash over a picture of Bart Simpson. Our motto, "don't mess with OUR paper".

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

Am I the only person in the world who reads the market data section of the paper? There doesn't seem to be many advertisers in that section of the paper, I get the feeling no one reads it anymore. If you haven't seen it in a few years, it's changed quite a bit. The stock tables are just a...

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

Well, when the headlines are about CEO's adulterous affairs, I'll consider cancelling. I hope there is someone out there that can beat Murdoch back if he starts messing around. I have no idea who it would be though.

Bank stocks and the credit crunch

Private equity firms like banks now, according to the WSJ.

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

I just got my first subscription delivery today. I love this paper, I always have. Murdoch had better not fuck it up. Whatever the WSJ is doing, they're doing it right. They have been hurt the least so far in the decline of newspapers.

What do you guys think about investing in Pawn shop or PayDay Loan companies?

There's an effort in southern California to get payday loan places away from military bases. They are taking advantage of young and dumb marines and sailors and ruining their bank accounts.

Trusting What You Think You See/Trusting Sources of Trading Information

I can pretty much ditto that. I never have cared too much for what anyone says about earnings, mergers, business prospects or whether they are corporate officers, analysts, or fund managers.

    Day trading and taxes?

Make no mistake - I do not daytrade and am not seeking trader status from the IRS. I've always had the opinion that someone with trader status would be forced to pay social security, medicare, etc. It looks like I was wrong.

    Day trading and taxes?

Ah, now this is the info I've been trying to confirm. Are you guys sure that a person with trader status from the IRS pays no social security taxes? I didn't find that on the IRS website the last time I looked. Any links to their site would be appreciated.

    Paulville

In Paulville Ron Paul is still winning in a landslide in the latest AOL poll. And still raising record amounts of campaign contributions.

This Is Why ET Has Become No Better . . .

Everbody is free to dismiss the validity of trades that have not been posted in real time. There's no need for action from the mods. The board is overly moderated as it is now, I certainly don't want to see them taking further action.

    Military on ET, SOUND OFF

Navy, USS Lynde McCormick, DDG8. We were in Operation Praying Mantis in 1988. I was a tech for the missile system search radar. I once stuck my ship's name in google and found a whole bunch of info. There were even some pics taken by someone on my ship while we were in combat that I didn't...

should I rent my house out

Evicting low life's (not that all renters are low lifes, I'm referring to those renters who specifically are), does not take the amount of time you would think. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes tops. You, with a doberman, and an assistant, with a can of pepper spray can quickly effect and...

    Day trading and taxes?

So is ET a place to come and get answers or a place to come and get abused? The OP is being polite and thanking people in advance for you to tell him to take a hike. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Being flagged as a pattern day trader has no bearing...

I Have Been Trading Since Before The Internet-1990

Bumping up an old thread here again, try not to get too mad. I'm sitting here sipping wine and popping benadryl reminescing about the old days. I like this thread, and another thread about "stone age" trading too. I'd love to go back to pre-internet days, I think I'd really clean up. The info...

Sector growth rates three years ago and now

At the end of each trading week I print out 31 sectors of the market and rank then by their annual growth rate. For the week ending 04/15/2005, (the market had been selling off slightly at that time, but overall it was a kind of sideways market), only two of the 31 sectors had a negative growth...
