10/2 How I'm trading inverses on Trump's covid dx: UVXY SDOW SPXS SQQQ TZA

    As we're french-kissing 3400, it'd be a fine time to buy a 1-week put spread. Say, 3350/3300 -- not to be greedy.

The most awful broker I ever met

    • "several" brokers in 5 years? • low-liquidity options? • deposit of "minimal" amount? As a trader via IB/TWS for 14 years, I am grateful for their ability to spot trouble.

Interactive Brokers Raises Margins On E-Mini's...once again

My total bad: when I read the word "option" in your (well-written) response, my brain (still working through the first cup of coffee) imputed FOPs, and a conflation of (cash-settled) weekly(s) and (futures-settled) quarterlies. Again, my total bad. Your post: totally good.

Trump tests positive for Covid 19

Sometimes we maybe hand out "Likes" a little too glibly. Well, this post deserves a SUPER-Like, were one created. Just BTW and all that.

Trump tests positive for Covid 19

No surprise. We pay attention to the bottom line. Economics. Accounting. "Maths." That is pretty boring stuff to rabid ideologues, no matter their stripe.

Trump tests positive for Covid 19

Pence "smooth"? As an Indiana resident, let me say that Pence is like polished concrete -- great if you want to slide around, but denser-than-shit if you're trying to get some movement or thinking. As a presidential possible, I would rank Pence as to be worse than Orange Dumpf.

Trump tests positive for Covid 19

I'm a 4-decade Res Publica(n), and have been aware of Orange Dump since 1984, and thought him a grotesque clown then, and have seen no reason to change that assessment since. Your assessment (FWIW) matches my own. I pray that one day, MY Republican Party will find its testicles once again, and...

Trump tests positive for Covid 19

How the hell did *she* catch it?? (Sorry: new to the thread. This bit of snark has probably been covered.... :D)

Interactive Brokers Raises Margins On E-Mini's...once again

...so, while I'm sympathetic to all the bitching w.r.t. the higher margin requirement, I still have to register shock at all these ET names I recognize, who apparently were not online on U.S.' Election Night 2016, when the futures market took a nose-dive into full-on nuclear-war missile-exchange...

10/2 How I'm trading inverses on Trump's covid dx: UVXY SDOW SPXS SQQQ TZA

Excuse me? We're up 45-50pts since this thread extolling a short position started. Half of that occurred between 9am and 10am -- 5 hours after the OP's (and my) post. That's the wrong direction. Methinks your maths needs adjustment. :D ("About 180°??" Indeed.)

What are the best MACD and RSI settings for a one minute chart?

A 1-minute chart? Not gonna happen. The MACD is a trend-spotter -- you're not going to find a worthwhile trend on a 1-minute chart. You'll get correspondence for 2 or 3 candles, then a wipe-out. (Which wipes *you* out, too.) The RSI -- for all it's popular-media mentions -- has never been...

    The markets are frequently wrong

The market does not lose money. Nor does it gain. The market is where/when things are transacted: you voluntarily pay $10 for something that was sold to you by a party that wished to receive $10 for it. For that transaction, one party received a $10 good/service, while the other party received...

10/2 How I'm trading inverses on Trump's covid dx: UVXY SDOW SPXS SQQQ TZA

We're closing 0.5% up today. It's Friday. It's Trump. It's election time: rollover meets happy news = tumult + pop. Half-a-percent above yesterday's close. Today's close.

    Options portfolio risk management resources

Risk management comes from managing your greeks. Your greeks are additive for each underlying, except theta, which (as dollars/day) is additive across the entire portfolio. So, add 'greeks' management, and 'portfolio' management, to your search. And memorize those greeks' graphs, for OTM, ATM...

Any usage statistics on indicators, signals out there ?

"Comfort in company." I dunno. OP: I can tell you this much: I in ~15 years of full-time trading, I've never even *heard* of someone making reliable returns from the default T/A available on any trading/charting platform. Not a single soul. On the other hand, every profitable algo-driven...

    What is trading to you?

Arbitrage. Figuring direction and getting there first, "assisting" where I can, taking a piece for my part of the risk. "Service provider." (It is easier with option-writing. With trend-following, it's more like being a remora -- not nearly so fun or entertaining. Or stressful.)

Confusion about markets in "Trading the Measured Move" by David Halsey

A bear covering a horrid, underwater, short position is not a bear to the market, but simply a blood-covered, embarrassed, bull. The market don't care what your reason for buying is -- if you're buying, it's because you expect further climbs. You're a bull. Not complicated. "Deserving", p/e...
