    Options Questions

Eww Gawd... Shame on me *again*..... I really should be trading, but I looked again at Question 3, and it's a perfectly good question -- I had misread it initially to give the choice between the sale of two different puts ($2,$3??) -- and such a difference either comes from distance-from-market...

    Options Questions

No no no -- not at all!!! Egg be all over MY face. I was Bart Simpson in school, and since being a college freshman (admittedly, "many moons ago...."), I have considered ALL teachers as absolute HEROES/HEROINES. And so, to put time=money where mouth is, "anything you need" you just ask. We...

    Options Questions

Well! Egg on MY face! AND WAY GOOD ON YOU! (I have taught at a top-tier B-school, a low-tier B-school, a community college, and even, a high school, so YOU ROCK.) BTW, Investopedia SUCKS -- lots of stuff missing, too much stuff ENTIRELY WRONG. If you go to Interactive Brokers (or even Youtube)...

    Options Questions

Firstly, SHAME ON YOU for pursuing answers to these trivial questions by quizzing others, rather than actually learning material yourself, and answering, for good or ill, based on your own work. Second, SHAME ON THE QUESTIONER as, in Question 3, there are two viable answers, but they depend (in...

    suretrader?

Not to be snarky, but why would you be concerned about the platfom, when you're intending to trade pennies? Whether your swimsuit matches your cap, you're going to be swimming in a pool of razor blades.

Ideal Options Platform and Feedback for Basic Call Strategy

I have built a really involved spreadsheet to take IB options data and do all sorts of crafty, wonderful, trade-improving things. Should I "finish" it [[HA!]], I would commercialize it immediately, and charge, roughly, a million dollars for an annual license. The problem with this worthy...

Quitting day job to collect weekly premiums - realistic?

Errrr, you ah may want to think about that a bit...... Jus' sayin'.....

Quitting day job to collect weekly premiums - realistic?

I'll even go a step further: I just don't *believe* in alpha. (Or, maybe and more likely, I can't afford to devote the limited *brain*power* necessary to consider *anything* beyond an acute reward/risk ratio. "Damn! It takes me all day! How do [all these myriad other traders] do it?!?!?")

Quitting day job to collect weekly premiums - realistic?

That's a problematically narrow view of the options market. In classic Price Theory, the foundational idea is that "we can't say" what good or profit or service will come from one expenditure over another, BUT WE DON'T NEED TO, as all of that value is captured in the price a willing buyer would...

Opinions of new-ish TWS API for Python, versus.....

Jeez, guys, you're really great and thoughtful replies ARE NOT making this any easier. (I crack me up.......) Re, IBPy -- I thought it was a neat deal, and although I have no knowledge of this, I am guessing it probably inspired the IB-sanctioned Python API...

Opinions of new-ish TWS API for Python, versus.....

The Yahoo! TWS_API group has recently been moved to Groups.io. A new thread has just been started, seeking opinions on the new Python API versus others (and even, primarily Java). I have a sizable OpenOffice spreadsheet with which I analyze the option market from data off-loaded from TWS Quote...

Is there a limit on how far ahead to buy a put to profit off of vol/vega?

Make two graphs -- one of your desired strike's LEAP cost against every other available expiry's (including weekly(s) when the analysis allows): price as usual on the vertical, time on the horizontal. to make things really obvious, make a second, of the difference from one expiry to the next...

    choosing a bond index

Two quick thoughts: 1) Volume -- favor the one(s) with higher volume. 2) Optionability -- favor the one(s) with higher volume. No doubt, you were thinking this already. I just wanted to echo your thoughts. (Sometimes that's helpful. {The voices in my head tell me that, all the time....})

Should I consider a prop firm? Or just trade my own funds? ($2 mil)

Two quick reminders: 1) That Soul-Crushing job becomes a lot more tolerable, the first time you realize that you're not *trapped* there. So, freshen your résumé, reduce expenses, and breath easier. 2) REDUCE EXPENSES. Always always always, the quickest, most assured, 100% non-taxable way to...

Everything I Need to Know Before Buying E-mini S&P 500 (ES) Options

Once upon a time, {blah blah blah, I wuz exercised (long call, or short put, don't remember, doesn't matter}, and on Monday, after a *fantastic* large hit to cash (and me going "What the *hellllllll?!?!?!?"), I realized net liq. was rising.
