    Why will this not work?

My main concern would be that gap up. Make sure you take a look at after-hours sessions during the last week, and when TSLA went parabolic a few weeks back, and see if there would have been enough AH liquidity for you to get a fill close to your buy-stop. If so, double- and triple-check that...

    Robinhood Outage All Day

Yep -- I was testing a strategy on IB's paper account today (which likely is much less robust than their main platform), and even that performed flawlessly. I get the appeal of RH -- it's an app, you can gamble a few hundred here and there -- but any kind of serious money has no place there.

Looking for Advice on Switching from IB

IB may have higher commissions than some of these brokerages you mention, but they *all* need to make money somewhere. Just make sure you compare apples to apples.

This is gonna be a juicy dip to buy

If nothing else, we just got what could have been a multi-year bear market done in a week.

My amzn & Google naked put sell is In deep red . How to play it on Monday to recover the loss.

Not to throw fuel on a bad idea, but at what point in this absurd drop are we all going to be tempted to start selling naked puts?

Scalping 1 min time frame? 3 minute?

What instruments are you trading? If futures, you can trade micro-futures with real money to get a feel for the psychology of trading real money.

My amzn & Google naked put sell is In deep red . How to play it on Monday to recover the loss.

After a two-day nearly-2000 point drop? Definitely—if you have the capital. Which is why the rule of thumb to not risk more than 5% of your capital on a trade is so good - it gives you the option to risk more when necessary.

My amzn & Google naked put sell is In deep red . How to play it on Monday to recover the loss.

And for OP, this was the perfect storm -- today's dip will be short-lived, but from what I gather, he doesn't have the capital to hold on to his positions long enough for them to bounce back.

    CoVID-19 Vaccine!!

Sort of, yes. They've had promising vaccines out of a San Diego lab within literal hours of sequencing this thing. The problem is that there's a long way to go from that point to administering vaccines: first there's validation that initial effects in vitro are not due to chance, then there's...

My amzn & Google naked put sell is In deep red . How to play it on Monday to recover the loss.

Honestly, in your situation, I'd put a really tight stop-loss on it and just don't look. Best-case, you get a bounce on Monday and can move your stop-loss up; worst/most realistic case, it closes very quick. If you don't want to risk anything more (i.e., the difference between your current...

I wrote a bot and gave it 25k to trade

Are you doing tick-by-tick backtesting? I found that some backtesting algorithms can give results that are pretty far from real-life trading. I don't necessarily agree with having to backtest 20+ years. Market's change fundamentally over time, and whether your algo worked in 1992 is irrelevant...

IBKR Lite now has access to TWS

Does anyone with a Lite account know if the API built into TWS works? I trade mostly through Multicharts via API/gateway (which, as I understand, isn't supported). But if the TWS api link works, it'd save me a good chunk on commissions.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

And if it's rain that can ruin your portfolio, you bring an umbrella. Or, to not exhaust the metaphors, buy options, don't hold overnight, etc. I'm not sure what OP's point is.

Backtest "Master Strategy"/complex exits in Multicharts

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but my searches came up empty. I've been playing around with the backtesting function in Multicharts. I use custom-built entry signals that port easily to the backtesting engine. But when I trade manually, I use the exit strategies built into the...

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

You can't predict the Black Swan event, but you can predict that there will be a Black Swan event. There's a lot of ways to insure yourself against that, some very simple. I don't understand what that has to do with TA.

I don't have IB in front of me, but wouldn't a conditional order accomplish this?

Being both long and short at same time

There might be. Let's say you go ES long and short, with a stop-loss at 10 ticks on each. On the profit side, you set a trigger at 10 ticks to submit a trailing stop. If ES goes up >10 ticks, the short contract hits the stop-loss for a loss of 10 ticks, while the long contract books profits as...

Adjusted Stop shortcut in IB/TWS -- not sticking

Uh, so I'm not sure if it just got pushed as an update (unlikely), or if I just failed to scroll down (likely), but there's an 'Adjustable Stop' option under 'Order Types' that makes this work.
