    recording dynamic data in excel

Ah, yes forgot about that, sorry. What you might want to do is have a UDF that uses the cell where you have your DDE link. It will be called everytime the value changes. You can do your processing then.... you'll probably want to keep an internal array in VBA of the ticks, and a global...

    recording dynamic data in excel

What does it give you in the Target parameter that is passed in? That should be the cell that changed (it's a range variable)... of course you want to make sure that it is the price cell that you are looking for that is being updated. Cash

    recording dynamic data in excel

Sure there is. Just use the Worksheet_Calculate event. Then you can do what you need to there. In regards to updating the chart, just make sure the chart refers to a named range. Then when you update the ticks, and add a cell to the place where the chart is getting it's data, reset that...

Do you believe in seasonality? (Trader's Almanac)

Frikkin' awesome!!! What an eye opener... I like the comment about the dip in the S&P 500 starting mid-March to pay taxes! Too bad they don't have it for specific stocks. Cash

Do you believe in seasonality? (Trader's Almanac)

I think there is some significance to it, but like anything it's not 100%. Think more in terms of seasonality for specific stocks. For example, check out MWV, OMX, ODP, and SPLS over the years in the July-September timeframe.

    Prop Firm traders

If you go employee route, watch out for contract limitations... you don't want to get locked into a 5 year contract, become profitable in a year, then end up giving them a big chunk of your profits for the next 4 years, all the time thinking to yourself "I could keep 100% of what I'm making if...

OK, obviously I missed some threads. But when I talk to my buddies doing IT at the major brokerages in NYC (MER, JPM, UBS, etc.) they're all doing C++ and C# for automated trading. Can you give me a link to some of the threads you are referring to? Cash

It's really all up to you. I would suggest you put in time both pre and post market doing news analysis, trade review, and research on your stocks and strategies. You don't need to trade every day, but I wouldn't not trade one day because I made a big score the prior day. You never know...
