    good old-fashioned squeeze today??!!

Oh boy, that's when I shorted, I am glad I did not read your little advice. No, they were pretty bearish in 1 min charts.

Can I do this with stop limit orders?

I would like to know if this is what I can do using stop-limit orders. I have never used them preferring stop or limit or simply market orders instead, so my knowledge of this kind of order is limited at best. So here is what I would like to do: I would like to place an order that gets...

Single most important book for a trader

I think you need to read more than one book. I have yet to find a book in any field, except perhaps very narrow or esoteric ones, that could be called the most important for any reason. I read 'Reminiscences...', but much more than that.

    synergy trader

Well, it's good to know someone's track record so that you could see what to possibly expect. I am giving him a benefit of the doubt, particularly that he offers a free trial for two weeks. I may check him out too, although I trade only ES these days, but I used to swing trade stocks before.

If you want my $$$ Answer my questions on futures:

The average daily range of ES is much less now, about 15 pts. It used to be bigger a few months ago.

    synergy trader

On a second thought without implying anything, I find it somewhat strange that he does not show off with a track record or something to this effect. Anyone knows more (or anything) about his track record. His site seems OK to me and he shares with me the same philosophy of keeping trading...

Are there such a thing as TOO MANY monitors?

Currently using 3, don't have room for yet another one.

    synergy trader

He offers a two week free trial. Why not check it out before you start suggesting that he is yet another of fake gurus. Of course, there are many of them out there, but that does not mean yet that there are not some decent ones.

Have you heard of Didier Sornette?

I disagree. The laws of economics are as universal as the laws of nature. The human nature does not change, the greed and fear have been around for quite a time by now and will stay with us for some more time to come. The same is true with the law of supply and demand, the most fundamental law...

Have you heard of Didier Sornette?

I did not know that he is at UCLA now, I will have to pay him a visit then. I studied some of his papers in mathematical physics (some variants of nonlinear Schroedinger equation) at the time the nonlinear SE was of interest to me, but I am not so familiar with his work in complex systems. His...

Trading for Morons - tips, pros cons etc.

Which one do you mean? Yes, there are some good Yahoo groups with some good (simple) trading strategies posted in them, but they did not come from any gurus and neither really had to in order to make sense.

If your success is related to education...

So many Ph.D.'s? I am finding it hard to believe, well perhaps too early to conclude anything yet, the sample is not big enough yet.

Trading for Morons - tips, pros cons etc.

I don't recall many market wizards having any trading mentors if at all. I am referring to Jack Schwagger's books. Not all of them were successful at first too. In fact some were total failures. If you really cannot figure out what you are doing wrong then you are too dumb to trade in the first...

    PhD without the guts

I totally disagree. It's just like saying they cannot understand their shortcomings. They can and if they want to, they can become good traders. Intelligence can only help in trading, but it is not enough to be a good trader. Other things are more important. That's why this thread is simply...

    Why do people blab predictions?

I think that's more along the lines: 'those who know don't talk, those who talk don't know'. If you really knew something, you would keep it to yourself.

    volatitliy poor last few days

Perhaps you should read more carefully. He says he is trading stocks and not futures and even in ES beyond the first hour you could not get 'strong moves' on the days you mentioned. So he is right. Today's ES range was less than 11 pts, very small indeed, only two moves for more than 5 pts...

    10 A.M. Swing Time

I agree that printing charts is useful, I still do it even if I have 3 monitors to work with. That's a way to do some pattern studies. I think that nothing will ever replace a regular sheet of paper for some purposes.

    Trading within a range

Stochastics was never meant to be used for trending markets, but I believe it can be. When you see that stochastics tends to stay overbought or oversold that basically tells you that you have a strong trend. The only way to use it then is to wait for some divergence and go countertrend...

    Quiet in trading room

These things have been around for perhaps 5 years not 15. If you need these advantages, I wonder how you have been able to support yourself trading futures for 15 years...
