    Best Way to Take Profits?

I think you misunderstand. I didn't mean to move it away, but instead in the direction of the trade. From the initial stop which would limit to a small loss to a stop where it would be a breakeven on the 5 contracts you held for a larger gain.

    Best Way to Take Profits?

Edge, Thanks for posting. One thought/suggestion on what you are doing - when you take the 3 pts profit on 5, you could consider moving your protective stop up to breakeven on the other 5 contracts. Brooks

    Best Way to Take Profits?

In Van Tharp's well received book "Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom", chapter 10 is "How to Take Profits". Under What To Avoid, he is adamantly against scaling out profits with multiple exits. He claims it goes against cutting losses short and letting your profits run and it results in...

Good products for intraday system development?

SL, You do have a point. OTOH, the higher your monthly fixed costs, the higher the net profit required to overcome the costs and really have a profit. Sometimes it makes sense to walk before you run. No one answered my earlier post about what TS8 costs if you don't trade with them ...

Good products for intraday system development?

Thanks for the post. What do you pay for TS8? Are you in the U.S.?

Good products for intraday system development?

Thanks for the post, but I need something now, not in 7 months. :) I like your comparison chart ... "Use a Broker of Your Choice". :) That is the TS and Wealth Lab problem. The price is good. How can you run in Easy Language code without violating TS copyrights? Brooks

Good products for intraday system development?

I'd appreciate suggestions on good products for programming intraday systems. I've owned and used TS/EL in the past but don't want to have to open a brokerage account. I'm looking for: - robust programming language - good support and forum - variety of built-in stops - comprehensive...

    Is YM Trading Thin?

BCE, Thank you for your post. To be honest, I had a little trouble following the thread that you pasted into your message. I had just read an answer from an earlier email to myTrack, before reading your post. It was good that your post confirmed what myTrack said. I am still getting...

    Is YM Trading Thin?

Yes, Q`M is right and solves the problem. myTrack uses wacked out symbols, completely different from the rest of the world!

    Is YM Trading Thin?

What is RTH? My data feed (myTrack) says CMEX. It shows the last price as 597.30 (as of now). Maybe I'm looking at the wrong symbol, but I'm not sure how to find the right one. Here's the last few days daily quotes: RU`M05 open high low close change vol 5/6/2005 600 600 594.5...

    Is YM Trading Thin?

I'm new here so this could well be a mistake I'm making ... but I'm looking at a 5 minute chart of YM from Friday (5/6/05) in Sierra Chart (data from myTrack) and it looks very thinly traded. For about half of the bars, the OHLC are all the same. This chart is the June 2005 contract...

    Need Advice: Setups & Monitoring

Yes, there is another thread here with that same discussion. It started out when I asked Ken a similar question to yours in an email. He got defensive and it started a long exchange. Seems like it just got put to rest. :-) Bottom line is that on his site where it says "stopped out", it...

Are the customers satisfied enough to sign up again when the first six months are up?

    Trading schools-good or bad?

Makes sense to me. Almost every trading book I read, says "Do your own thinking." I think there are some traders, successful or otherwise, who have found they can make more money selling services than they can trading. Do the math. $295 every 6 months x 2 = $590/year x 2400 customers is...

    Need Advice: Setups & Monitoring

I hope some of you successful veterans will help out a newbee: 1. For swing trading, what’s a good method for locating stocks which fit one the patterns (i.e. breakouts, reversals, etc.) from these books? I think something is needed to do end-of-day screening to point out possibilities for...

    Trading schools-good or bad?

Sounds like everyone agrees that these sites should take down their performance records. They don't seem to clearly say whether they are actual or theoretical trades. If claiming to be actual, then the poster should be willing to provide copies of account statements on request. These...

    Trading schools-good or bad?

Does anyone have any first or second hand info on one of the gazillion trading schools out there? Sure would appreciate it. Thanks! Best regards, Jim [/B] Jim, I just read a day trading book today by Greg Capra and he says (take it with a grain of salt) that 3 good schools are: 1...
