After using this trading simulator I'm convinced technical analysis simply doesn't work

First of all, technical analysis doesn't "work" -- it's a set of tools. You need to start observing indicators and how to interpret them from your experience and not reading somebody's textbook explanation of how to use them.

    just took Rande Howell course

Seems like you might be revenge trading or impulse trading to make up losses? Also, perhaps trade less, perform better?

    just took Rande Howell course

But you didn't answer any of my questions! :sneaky: Don't just post what you think is the solution. What is the underlying issue? Until you fully understand that, you don't have the necessary AWARENESS.

    just took Rande Howell course

Maybe the question is why are you stressed out? Are you trading too large? Do you have a fear of failure? Fear of being wrong? Fear of losing money? I think the bottom line is that somehow you have to train your brain where the only way you are wrong or fail is if you don't follow the...

How to improve reliability and consistency of technical indicators?

I don't expect you will find anything with that level of accuracy. There is an art to using technical analysis in a way that gives you an edge. Indicators work differently in different market environments. I'm a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and Ibelieve you have to incorporate different...

Serious question: What makes a successful daytrader? Is it consistent daily wins, or more wins?

3 Questions: 1) Do you have a specific, written trading plan? 2) Do you keep a trading journal -- consistently? 3) Do you have a trading coach?

To Trade or Not to Trade?

How about put in 20 years and not have much success? I kid you not. I sucked at trading for 20 years. It's amazing I kept at it. Fortunately, I wasn't taking huge risks and had a decent job but still managed to blow up some small accounts along the way and stuff like that. About 6 months...

    Step by Step to eminis

A couple of other brokers who have demo account features are OpenECry and PFG Best. My first futures account that I opened (earlier this year) was with OpenECry and I thought they were reasonable if you don't need a whole lot (and they don't charge extra for data). However, I wanted some...

    Things are turning bullish.

For the most part, I have found that the "low volume" comment is usually a newbie comment. From my 10+ years of trading, I have learned that volume of the overall market is one of the least reliable indicators. And by the way, it's freakin' August!

    Internet Access with TradeStation

I have found that I can only access TradeStation when I have a solid (typically, direct) connection to the internet as opposed to using a wireless network (unless the connection is "Excellent") or Verizon Wireless Internet (I can occassionally access if my connection is 80% or better). Does...

So you're saying it's easier to pick the direction of an individual stock? I have to disagree with that.

    5 minute chart and emini's

I can see patterns off the 5-minute charts that I can't recognize in a smaller time frame. Further, if I'm trading the NQ, for example, I also keep up a 5-minute chart of the QQQQ as that can shed a little more light on the overall picture.

    question about a refferal fee

One thing you might want to clarify is whether this is a "broker" or a RIA firm? I assume if you're talking about 30k per year, then the firm is charging a 1% fee based on assets under management. For RIA firm referrals, I'm not sure there is a standard referral fee -- as the situation depends...

    question about a refferal fee

Not sure about referral fees with respect to brokers. Make sure the broker's compliance department has signed off on the arrangement and that all documentation, including documentation to the client of the referral fee, is made properly.

    smart money and Gann

Either the Smart Money is following Gann -- or, more likely, the dumb money follows typical human behavior - -thereby being consistent with Gann Cycles -- and the smart money just recognizes where the risks and opportunities are.

    VectorVest vs. Worden's TeleChart

As I understand it, they are really 2 different products. I have come across people who use both in their trading. Given that you can get a cheap trial of VectorVest and get the Worden software for free, consider looking at both. I currently use TeleChart (real-time version) and have...
