    Settlement of Russell March Mini??

Final settlement is going to be high - somewhere close to 684-685.

Question about next weeks Exp. date.

March is futures expiration as well, so I believe the March futures options will be settled in cash to the index. Be very clear on your understanding of what is going to happen and when the cash/positions will be assigned. It can get very hairy around expiration, especially quarterly...

'It's Going to Be Inflation Everywhere:' Deputy 'Doom'

The dollar fell pretty far from 2002 all the way to 2008. Where was the inflation then? There are more sound explanations for the case of deflation than there are for inflation. In either case, I'll believe it when I see it.

IB - Friends & Family, Advisor Accounts

I'm looking for a firm in the discount futures broker in the US that has something similar to IB's Friends and Family.

IB - Friends & Family, Advisor Accounts

Yes, I wouldn't really be comfortable working with client money outside the US.

IB - Friends & Family, Advisor Accounts

Once you reach 15, you can go under IB's Account Management and just put in your NFA registration # and continue with business as usual. As I understand it, a Friends & Family account is simply an Advisor account. And once you put in an NFA or RIA #, it becomes a Professional Advisor...

IB - Friends & Family, Advisor Accounts

Does anyone here manage over 15 accounts with IB's Friends & Family Advisor account? And has contemplated moving to another discount broker? Are there any other discount futures brokers out there that offer an advisor/client account program similar to IB's Friends & Family?

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

This type of trading is vastly similar to the style of trading I did about 15 years ago. I made enormous gains and losses. In the end, for me, this type of trading could not make a career so it was eventually put to rest, and I trade entirely differently now.

how to save a tax from capital gains legally?

For CA, I found the following: - namely, you are a CA resident if your stay in CA is for other than temporary or transitory. - you will be presumed to be a CA resident for any tax year in which you spend more than 9 months in this state.

how to save a tax from capital gains legally?

We are in identical situations. I am in CA as well. It would save an enormous amount on taxes if I could claim WA residency. I haven't been able to find a clear cut answer, and I imagine they wouldn't want to legally allow this. Have you found anything else on the time limits of both CA...

Will 2010 be the 2nd leg of the housing collapse?

In the comments section, there seems to be a valid reason why the chart may long be outdated and no longer as negative. A commentor is saying basically that alot of the option ARMS have already defaulted, refinanced, or modified, so that going forward, there will be significantly fewer...

Will 2010 be the 2nd leg of the housing collapse?

taken from seekingalpha: US Government's New Housing Bubble by Jeff Nielson December 11, 2009 As readers here have heard regularly, it is absolutely certain that there will be another down-leg for the U.S. housing market, beginning no later than spring of next year. We already know the...

    Does IB negotiate futures commissions?

I'm currently on the unbundled, but it's not that competitive vs other futures brokers. I trade in the <=20k category each month so it's about 1.60 for each ES trade and 1.90 for each GC trade. Does IB negotiate futures commissions?

We reached S&P 1119 on 12/4. Was that the high for the year?

Though we are in a tight range, I will add that the % of investors looking for a correction is at a high. In the past, this has often led to choppy trading several weeks out. We have seasonality which provides the market a forward breeze, but in this environment, a false breakout is highly...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

At this point, I don't think anyone cares about which brokers would survive or do better than the rest. Bottom line is that this transaction tax is bad for retail trading and beyond. And it would hurt all brokerages across the board. But more importantly, hurt traders.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I think you are badly mistaken. You cannot compare what you paid 22 years ago with the cost of trading today. The trading landscape has changed completely. If we assume the average retail trade is for $8,000, then a 0.25% tax would equal $20. Current commission on that trade is $8.95 for...
