I guess Jim Simmons and his people do it properly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he made $1B last year system trading.
I believe system trading is possible, that's why I keep trying. Maybe others gave up to soon or are just better suited for discretionary trading. Everyone needs to trade the...
I can see and understand all the patterns in the left and middle section of the chart. Its the right edge I have trouble with. I can always see reasons to go long or short. When I pick one, I don't have a disciplined exit strategy I believe in (positive expectancy).
I've changed my screen name...
Anek,
I see you mentioned programming your ideas for auto trading a while back. Was curious to know if you have been able to create an automatic system based on the price action principles discussed on this great thread.
Thanks for all the commentary.
Forgot to mention regarding the price action ELD. Due to the TS way of doing things, the HL, etc. markers get attached to the first bar in the minute in which the HL occures. So, on lower tic charts, the markets are charted way off the actual bar which creates the marker. Sometimes increasing...
Anek,
Just found your great thread last night. Glad you like the price action ELD. It was inspired by a pure price action trader that's been changing my paradigm about trading. I haven't had time to read all the posts (probably won't) so would love to see the cliff notes version.
I see when...
I've heard it many times, amongst other things, successful traders have an edge and one must choose a methodology that's well matched to the individual trader's goals, personality, etc. While trying to define my edge(s) I thought it would be useful to myself and others to share and learn what...
$332,700 in 881 trades over 366 days is $378/day. About 2.4 trades/day, $157/trade, ~1.5 ER2 points.
3 contracts to start?, ~.5 point profit/contract...at least to start.
Sounds like we all can do it if my calculation are correct.:)
I'm backtesting a strategy for er2, es, nq, and ym on Tradestation. How much slippage, on average, should I expect if using stop market orders for say 1-4, 5-9, or 10-20 contracts?
Thanks in advance.

No training. I have experience and would suggest you train yourself. There's plenty of free info on the net. Remember, YOU are the biggest factor in trading profits.
Good luck.
There's an overwhelming amount of stuff on that site. Try subscribing to their Yahoo discussion group. Lots of good discussions and very helpful people, but do research on your own first. The bline setup is pretty reliable.
