    Cyber Security Stocks

Heya Zandy, I'm right there on page with you, and have been looking at the same thing. Some analysts have said that the security boom has happened, and there's no longer the "binge spending" that we saw a couple years back, but I think that there's still money to be made. I just listened to the...

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Thank you for your helpful comments! Yes, we are on the same page! In open defiance of the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), I now believe that a massive spike following an earnings report is like a hurricane, or tornado passing through in the case of a downspike; for an upspike: finding a...

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Based on the posts above, I've compiled this list of variables that have the potential to cause a major move following a quarterly earnings announcement. Thanks to @Jones75, @atrp2biz, @killshottrader, @Bekim. I've done my best to rank them in terms of their potential to cause a major (greater...

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

..but it's not just earnings that drives the market reaction. I've seen some companies miss earnings by 1%, and the market responds with a sharp downspike; others post the same loss, and there's little movement at all. That's why I posted here... I'm trying to get my arms around all the factors...

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Yes, good point. I discerned this one as I listened on the Southwest Air Call (nyse:LUV), and they focussed on "Cost per Available Seat Mile" (CASM) as a metric. On the Western Digital (nasdaq:WD) call, they referred to Price Per Megabyte (PPM) for both Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Solid State...

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Excellent, thank you. As I start to listen to read the financial reports, and listen to the calls, I'm confused by how a company can beat earnings by a significant percent, yet the price takes a nose dive at market open!? I was that trader "looking just at the quarter's EPS" :) . That's why I...

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Thanks! I would have to question your point. There's many examples, but the one that prompted this post was nyse:GNC. Following their recent earnings announcement on 10/26, they plunged over 30%... certainly not a tiny fraction! Yes to management guidance... @killshottrader addressed this point...

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Thanks... I have to better understand what "revenue" means in the context of an earnings call.

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Tim, please keep these "RTFB" answers to yourself. If you are unable or unwilling to answer the question, then move to the next thread. A big swingin D' like you may have all the answers, but I do not. I am new to this business and looking for helpful guidance.

What are the key points from earnings that move the price?

Hey All, What are the key points and metrics from a quarterly earnings statement that cause a price reaction? Where I stand now is that a reaction is based on two broad categories of data, metrics, and information: how the company performed relative to analyst expectations, and forward...

    Earnings Summary: best Web Site

Heya Peeps, Can you please recommend a good site for earnings report summaries? In addition to the earnings numbers, I need a transcript of the prepared statements, including forward guidance. When earnings are released, there's this avalanche of computer-generated articles, but they don't...

    Network Woes =-(

I called Verizon, they did a test, and said that my line is "unstable." The guy just came over, ran some test, and confirmed this to be true. He went down to the basement, and switched my line to another pair, which tests out well. We'll see how it works.

Does Bloomberg (or other) Terminal have a "Blacklist?"

Greetings Brethen, I hope that this note finds you in good health and vast wealth. Question: Does Bloomberg Terminal, and/or other terminals, have a Blacklist function? In other words, can I somehow tag equities so that either: a. They do not appear in my searches b. I am somehow warned that...

Why am I doing better in the afternoon?

Well, you helped me to answer my own question.

Why am I doing better in the afternoon?

Yes, the price action is very different in the morning. It's much choppier. In the afternoon, the curves are smoother. Additionally, I tend to short in the afternoon, to piggyback on the algo profit-takers that rode a horse up in the morning.
