    Two paths from here. Advice?

Look, you are not going to roll up and die in the next few or even the next 20 years. I am almost 60 years old and have more energy and drive than I ever had at 20. If you take good physical and mental care of yourself, you may be going strong for many years. Don't assume you will lose...

    FINRA

I keep getting these letters in the mail about some kind of freelancing for FINRA. I'm not a financial professional and don't know how I got on their mailing list. Does anyone know about this?

    maybe something related to mental

Why don't you set up a test and try to prove to yourself which works best? First, set some rules..... 1. A rule for what percentage of your capital goes to the "try to see why" trades, and what percentage to the "don't bother with why" trades. 2. A rule for how long you will continue...

Trading quite successfully but still working

You have to come up with some tools to discipline yourself (that sounds kind of off-color, huh?) But seriously, think about what you have done in the past. How did you develop the habit of exercising, flossing, taking a medication, or whatever other boring but desirable things you do daily...

What was the ***last*** thing you had to master before becoming profitable?

Yoda was the last thing I had to master. I was not one of those traders who has trouble getting out of a trade--I had trouble getting in. Learning to plan the trade was important. But learning to trade the plan was crucial. I put Yoda up on my screen saver and on a refrigerator magnet...

Poll- Who is worst U.S. President ever?

Thanks, futurecurrents. That is possibly the first nice thing anyone has ever said to me in this particular forum. And it may be the last!

Poll- Who is worst U.S. President ever?

W is the worst president ever. I can't vote for Obama. He is simply putting the last nail in the coffin that George W. Bush built. He bankrupted this country with his wars and failure to effectively address entitlements (which are now completely out of control).

    Investors Business Daily necessary?

I meant to say AAII is cheaper than IBD, but you probably figured that out already.

    Investors Business Daily necessary?

Why don't you join AAII? They are much cheaper than AAII, more geared to the investor than the trader, publish a monthly list of CANSLIM stocks (as well as lists for about 50 other investing methodologies), and you do not have to look at any rabid political rant. There are local groups...

Successful traders: why don't you move to a 0% capital gains tax country?

My friends are here. It's that simple. Otherwise, there are a lot of places I'd rather be. I take advantage of having a Roth. I'm not a day trader-more like a week trader or a month trader. So I make the high-earning trades in there, and hold the boring dividend stocks in the taxable...

Where to start: Part Time Trader with a fulltime job

When I was working, I traded in the morning for a couple of hours (I live on the West coast). I don't need any more time than that. No need to trade all day. You could consider moving to the West coast, or even Hawaii. Or, can you change your hours at your job? Look at some longer-term...

This is the kind of garbage being taught to kids in universities

I think the prof is right. But those of you who say he can only stay in "power" in his university as long as he strikes a liberal cord are probably correct, also. I'm always laughing at the people who want to get everyone in America to vote. Why should I help to get out the vote? There are...

Elite Traders, How Sociable Are You?

I tussled between this and the one below it: "I only go out ..." One is a little too brash for me, the other too shy. I'd like an options that lies between them. On Meyers Briggs and other tests, I always fall squarely between the I and the E. I love people, but I hate superficial small...

    Just Wanting to Say Thanks

Thank you for the site, Baron. It is a lot of fun. Please know that we are not all "guys." :)

    Stupid question

  16. D

    Why read published material?

Fair point. I don't mean to imply that learning to trade is simple, only that methods that work are surprisingly simple.
  17. D

    Why read published material?

So true. And this is exactly why the stuff that truly works continues to work--because everyone will not follow it--a conundrum.

US debt- whats is the real plan of Congress?

What is the real plan of Congress? To keep their fat asses in their cushy seats, I think.

Can I be an "ordained minister" and trade tax-free?

Yes, good question. The SPLC is not so bad--they took the f***ing KKK apart--good for them. I'll come to your church services on Sundays since I really miss trading on that day--we can at least talk about trading. I will only come if you serve communion wine, though. Chateau Margaux...

    Stupid question

This is one of so many issues the media is covering badly. Dumbed down, not explained, sophomoric reporting. I am really losing respect for reporters. I hope someone will post a few decent articles that will restore my faith.
