Market's going nuts  So much for selling Calls being safer than Puts. Sure it goes up slower, but this is still not the best scenario. Thought the nuclear standoff with North Korea would scare the market down a little but o such luck

Hi RB, Just played around with my cahrt function on IB for the first time and must say Im quite impressed. Don't know enough to give you much details but it does have streaming futures charts. The one im playing around with is ES futures. It has a good selection of 1,2,3,5,15,30 minute...

Hi Heather, Would answer your question if I was familiar with haircuts but unfortunately Im not. Someone with a prop account would be able to help but the best guy to answer this would be Mav. Maybe PM him if he hasn't come accross this thread? Cheers

Thanks for the reply Mark, Just trying to get a feel for how you're handling your risk as Im moving in similar direction in addition to credit verticals and diagonals. 3) Having to close only 4 positions in this strong up move and still achieving 90% monthly profit goals sound pretty good...

Hi Mark, Great posts in the last couple of pages. Been following your diagonal posts and i like your philosophy of containing risk first and foremost and not letting them get out of hand. I too need to be reminded to firstly look after the risks and let the profits take care of themselves...

Yup its working in my favour at the moment :D It was working again for a brief moment and crashed again before I could pull the trigger on my long Calls  Not sure how it all works, but its only Globex and NYMEX on IB. SPX, SPY etc are all working fine. If i was doing 300 contracts...

Oh crap  Globex on IB crashed as soon as I filled my sell leg of my ES Put Diagonals. But now i can't fill my buy leg as Globex is still down. So i've got naked PUTS as the moment But its only two contracts :D Trying to scale in as the market moves around.

Thanks, the reason I asked was that I noticed that there was virtually no volume, whether it was the AUG SEP or OCT EW options. Will have a good look on Monday might start trading them. Thanks again :)

Coach, Is the the EW the options that expire at the END of each month? I had a look at them in IB but there virtually no volume traded on them even though there is a bid and ask. Do you just trade the EW at market ? (ie buy at the ASK and sell at the BID) Thanks

Mark, I think your reply from the quote was from me and not cdowis. Wonder how that happened :) a) Not sure how the diagonal behaves when I get a cash credit. I think the properties of the diagonal will be very different to Murray's. It might closer resemble a credit spread and the hedging...

Hi Ryan, Thanks for the risk profile and you're probably correct. Its probably due to the fact that the distance between my short strikes is 125 pts. Where as Murray's distance between the shorts strikes (1225 - 1300) is only 75 pts. But as you said this is based on the low VIX. Im hoping...

I agree they're pretty lousy. However they have live chat for urgent matters like trade problems. They also have a ticket inquiry system but their answers are vague and you can tell they're not putting in the effort to help. Haven't bothered to use it much since.

I now have a double diagonal SEP/OCT diagonals 1225/1200 @ 2.55 1350/1375 @1.10 Lets see how this one goes. Expect more delta neutralness protection as long as SPX stays between the short strikes. And if SPX ends reasonably close to either the short CALL or PUT strikes at SEP expirition...

Murray, Appreciate your help but don't worry about it. We're all flat out busy. I'll just play around with IB to get the risk profile graph. I think i've got it figured out :) By the way I understand how you can get your 2.25 debit. Yesterday the SEP/OCT 1225/1200 diagonal had a mid of...
