    In the money Calendar Spread

Breaking even on some XLE 55 puts (See then end of the Calendar Spreads thread. Edit: That would be in the Journals section.). These were mentioned by another poster, so I tried it - my first calendar. There is one more roll to Dec so I'll wait it out and maybe oil will come back. I think Bush...

    In the money Calendar Spread

I've only been doing calendars for a couple of months now. I don't worry much about the commissions - but I probably should. I'm mostly in XLE and OIH and got hammered in the past week or so when oil tanked (is that a pun?).

    In the money Calendar Spread

If you have access to any risk graphing tools you can put in a few examples to see how synthetic equivalents work. Try simpler ones. For example, a covered call and a naked put have equivalent risk graphs - capped profit as the stock goes higher, unlimited loss as it goes down. Calendars have...

    In the money Calendar Spread

If the stock pays a large enough dividend and there is an ex-dividend date before the short call expiration, you might be assigned. It's happened to me.

    Closed end funds for income

[I think this is the right forum to post this, if not move it to where it belongs.] What are some good Closed End Funds for income? If I go to etfconnect.com and sort by dividend there are a few over 10%, and quite a lot over 8%. Many have a high premium over NAV. Anyone know of any good...

    Calendar Spreads

Similar to my reasoning also. I decided to go for the sure thing now rather than wait for something better. Besides, XLE looked like it was going to tank after jumping up this morning. The natural was .20 when I put in my order. I'm still kicking myself for not rolling Terry's Tips 55, 56 and...

    Calendar Spreads

I just rolled Oct to Nov for .45, locking in a .10 profit (or about breakeven considering commissions).

Dang. I thought sure you would have rolled last week. I think you could have gotten $1 or maybe $1.05 at one point.

    Regular Ol' Condor question

Since you are using ToS you can use the Analyze screen to see where your risk graph. You can click on the blue dot from the Trade screen, or go to the Analyze screen and select Add Simulated Trades. Then click Risk Profile to see the profit/loss graph. Use the "plot lines" pull-down menu and...

Thanks. I was looking to close my OIH 135 Call Sep/Oct for 3.50 or better, but it seem to be down. (BTW, are you Richard or Donna?)

No way are stocks selling off in Sept

The 128,000 "new jobs" is bogus as usual. Only about 7,000 real jobs were created, the rest are from the CES birth/death model. Check it out on the BLS website. Plus, it is generally agreed that 250,000 new jobs are needed each month just to keep even.

I rolled for .90 credit today, bringing the overall debit down to .35. Hope to go green next month.

Quick Please help me on my first options trade

[More editing: I quoted the wrong post. We had put on a XLE Sep/Dec 55 put calendar.] Have you done anything with these? I'm thinking of rolling Sep to Oct for .85 or .90. Theta on the Sep 55s is -.03 and the Oct is -.02. Should that matter much? I.e. the Sep is losing faster than the Oct...

    BWB questions

My graph looks the same. (I wonder why I can't upload it - too big maybe?) Here's the EOD prices for the put BWB: 129 bid=.65 ask=.70 131 bid=1.40 ask=1.45 132 bid=2.00 ask=2.05 Using all at bid or all at ask I get .15 credit. As I said before using ask for the long legs and bid...
