QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Tried MultiCharts and several other programs (NinjaTrader, TradeVec...). Several points I am missing: 1. Unfortunately none of them handles constant volume charts (CVC) in a flexible way. For me CVC is the only way to have a consistent look at the markets. QT allows very flexible...

what is the best language that suits massive calculation on every tick?

This might be your central problem. How can you be sure that the coder is writing code that is - efficient - truely doing what you want (and in the long term: not using the code/the strategy behind if it turns out to be profitable?)

what is the best language that suits massive calculation on every tick?

    (1) If you have already a working strategy written in MQL4 you are already familiar with a programming language. Next step is to find one that is closest to the one you are using in order to reduce the time required for learning. (2) C++ is clearly the hardest prog. language to learn. No...

what is the best language that suits massive calculation on every tick?

Why should one use a "retail trading platform" to program the strategy. It's fairly easy to interface to a quote feed / broker API from a true programming language. Many advantages: - More speed - No memory problems - No problems with systems (platform) you cannot access - Reduced risk...

QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

It's all in their answers: - "We have no plans to phase out QT" - "If QT is phased out you have to pay a fee" In other words: We do not want to phase out QT but we have precise plans how we will do it. Nothing more to say.

QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Yes, can confirm. I contacted QT support with a question and from the answer it is obvious that they consider QT outdated and not worth to be adapted still. Why they want to let it die? It also appeared from the answer that it is a quite big and complex program (written in Delphi)...

QT can and does construct volume bars from non-tick data (like IBs) for ages. It is absolutely not necessary to have tick data to build volume bars. Also IB is supplying historical data down to the 1 sec level. This is for sure close enough to tick data.

QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Just recently had (again) a look at NT and a conversation with their support. It's ridiculous: You can't have constant volume charts with IB backfill in this program! That's something that QT could do for ages though it has a long standing and ennoying bug in the way it does it...

It's written in Delphi. Not so many people around that are still familiar with the language.

Email notification links when subscribed: Do NOT send link to "newpost"

Thanks for answering. I got the impression that unfortunately it does not work this way. I'll try to send an example as soon as this happens again.

Email notification links when subscribed: Do NOT send link to "newpost"

Firsts thanks for keeping up ET. Here comes a tiny suggestion for improving the subscription service: When being subscribed to a thread and a new message appears in the thread the board daemon sends a message that looks like this: Hello uexkuell, XXXXX has just replied to a...

    Short DAX at 7740

+1.30 / contract from entry per now. Stay in the trade, more to come. Strange though, that DAX seems to go in the same direction. You have any (fundamental) explanation, Asusilovic?

    Short DAX at 7740

Bond futures (like FGBL MAR 11) seem to be set up for a huge upmove. Some people with really deep pockets buying like crazy.

what software/service do you wish you had?

Sorry guys, I'll have to be a bit negative here: Look at the history of programming language translators. It's always a complete mess and they hardly ever arrive at their purpose. Even with languages that should be really close like Visual Basic to Visual Basic .NET the translator...

    What was Ireland's problem?

In case you are interested in the facts: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ei.html (CIA factbook, search for: "Economy - overview") The most important part: To make it short: - Banks attracted by low corporate taxes (=low government interference...

curved trend / support / resistance lines

Sure, as few as 3 points are enough: "Three points uniquely determine one parabola" from: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Parabola.html (after the 6. equation) or: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parabola under the headline of "Derivation of the focus" you see how 3 points are used for...

Merkel tells collapsing Ireland to accept German hegemony.

One more of those attempts to build opinions on misinformation. Even no such statement in the article quoted. In case someone is interested in facts: The european parliament consists currently of 735 members. 99 of them are german. This shows the weight Germany has in the EU...

@ASusilovic Guess I don't have to wish you luck for your trading since you obviously succeded in eliminating much of the random nature of it. Deep thanks for the many stimulating ideas and clues. I wish you a multitude of exploitable repeated patterns and bot moves in the future...
