Using £9,000 to make £89,000 profit in 2009-

I suspect / sounds like you are spreadbetting ? Once you can play the game against dirty tricks of spreadbetting companies when you do graduate to a "proper broker" you will find trading less challenging. I remember way back in 2001 betting £0.50/point with Finspreads scalping FTSE 100, all day...

    short strangle hedged with futures

I think last person to have naked short strangle positions was Nick Lesson. You will pick the pennies when things move slowly, but when the volatility sets in you may wipe out before you can close the positions. Have you considered doing an iron condor and adjusting it backwards ? Left options...

    Trader lifestyle

For me it would be upgrading from Jeffrey West shoes (£230) to Berluti (£650 upwards). Went to their Mayfair store, its really nice and they have a back room cigar and whisky lounge. Anyways Jeffrey West seems to be doing the trick with young (17-22) females, so might not need Berluti :D...

Naaah, Dubai is where the lubricant free SHAFTING is taking place. Personally feel they will have to tear down some of those silly buildings, remember the curse of grandiose buildings before economic collapse, Empire State Building - 1931 Sears Tower - 1973 Petronas Twin Towers...

Serious question: what HedgeFund firms make money in market meltdown?

Most hedge funds came around 2004 onwards, and are largely run by individuals from a mutual fund background who tend to think of the market in terms of a single dynamic or industry and often with a perma bullish outlook. Wearing a £3000 Saville Row suit and having offices in Mayfair does not...
