    Facing our demons

Hello Cutten and thanks for sharing, If you don't mind, I'd like to use your demon[s] as a focus for the time being. I'll start by saying the problem many traders face is our old friend "fear". Fear of losses, fear of missing out, fear of not being involved, fear of making money(?)...

Tell me the rules of Trading....

It's not that we don't know what to do, it's that we can't do what we know. I'd wager that most traders at this point have read/heard about the 10 commandments of trading - they're mostly the same no? Cut your losses, let your profits run, etc....what's changed in 2,000 yrs? After the...

    Facing our demons

whistler, Perhaps I should have re-phrased. By intelligence, I did not mean IQ per say. While I agree that you need not be Einstein (and yes, perhaps he would not have been a good trader in your analysis), I really meant to drive home the point that, "being lazy" is no way to trade...

    Facing our demons

RM, I've known a few that were very conservative traders who might be called gun-shy. You might say they were the most boring millionaires you will meet. ;) Trading's like most things in life, many ways to skin the cat, even with our individual demons.

    Facing our demons

drsteph, Sorry for the editing, but hopefully I got the main points in. As a trader, all I can say is, are you sure you really WANT to be a trader? It's a real question, not rhetorical. Ed S. was one of my idols when I was trading.

    Facing our demons

Yep, another top 10 I think. When to get bigger, when to get smaller or stop completely... As a prelude to another thread I'll start, I'll simply say this, for those who are posting their demons here and are in a condition of "I'll do anything at this point", there's hope. And I won't even...

    Facing our demons

Agree to disagree. But I'm confused to what exactly you're disagreeing with. Are you saying being lazy is ok? Or that the 90% unsuccessful are not intelligent? Or somethingelse? Sorry, it's been a long day.

    Facing our demons

They were just normal avg joe blow ups, the plain vanilla type. Like any other guy sitting next to you on the desk. It was an easy fix in retrospect, but very difficult. I've always said that a "successful" trader is one that is meeting their expectations. If you are, then it's a waste...

    How does it feel............

MadB, You need a longer time frame. Most people take more than 1 year to even find out if trading is for them...nevermind make $$$. ps: were you trading the tape all this time? it sounds like it.

    Facing our demons

Laziness? Wow. What are people thinking these days? The LT ratio of successful traders to unsuccessful traders haven't changed in a loooong time. For as long as I can remember, it's been somewhere around 5-10% successful - at best! The unsuccessful 90-95% aren't exactly idiots either...

"Old School" trader needs some 2007 info and help

lol - I guess I opened an old topic for discussion. Sorry for talking about the good 'ol days fellas. :D I "read" about some traders having days described like below. I've never had any days like that. These were all rumors. :D "Is he stepping down?... hell yeah, and offers getting...

    Facing our demons

I find it interesting that no one has mentioned how much more money they could make if they rid of their #1 demon. I know for myself it was a LOT of money and well worth coming to terms with. That's what drove me to face mine.

    Facing our demons

That's it right there...are you content? Simply posting suggests that you're not. If you're not not content, that's a different story. Then you'd have to look at your fear of blowing up. If you truly are content as your post says, then all you're doing is wishing, which many of us do (not...

    Facing our demons

I think you've broken 11 out of the 10 trading commandments. What you described is horrendous. You really think it's just "wake up and make money"? You need a drastic realignment in what you think trading is. I'm sorry for being so cold, but true I think. If you're profitable now, imagine...
