    Amazon (long term traders) Warning!

There is a well known trader who goes shopping with his familiy and whenever he sees a new shop / retail chain etc. doing well he will invest in that. Same thing he does in reverse - when a chain is well regarded and the shops are empty he will short it. For years I have shopped with Amazon...

    Inandlong gone?

InAndLong The saying is "Praise in public, critizise in private". On this board it seems to be the other way round. I for one enjoyed your presence on this board and I wish you the best in your future endavours. I am sure you will do well in spite of all those naysayers. And...

need a cheap but good EOD data source

I have got Quotes Plus. A friend of mine has TC2000. Personally I think QP has more to offer with some scanning software included. Depends what you want to do with it, if you want futures data only I suggest you consider pinnacledata.com (I had that before). Hope this helps

    traderkay leads by example

TraderKay I enjoy your postings as I see you struggling with the same issues as that I have. Your system here seems to me to be the fade of a fade as preached by Alan S Farley. But I do think that if you want to make it succesful that you will have to add volume in there somewhere...

    IB vs. Tradestation

Hayman, One MAJOR reason that I have not seen and that no-one is telling you about (at least VERY few): IF you have a standalone charting package (eg the Old TradeStation 2000i, MetaStock 8, IBCharts, MedVed's QuoteTracker to name a few of the more popular ones) AND...

How high can the S&P go?

Tnx Waggie, Looks like I need to watch only high VIX values as the rest seems "business as usual".

Somebody tried to rip off my IB account and wire money to New Zealand

Scientist Second your posting. But I would say that XP is less secure than Win2000, there are some suggestions I made in an earlier posting in this thread. E.G. the PnP. In addition you can encrypt your whole hard disk through the OS so that when someone installs another copy of the...

How high can the S&P go?

Contrarian I like the alias :D . Big question is however WHEN? The market can keep going longer in a direction than that a trader can stay solvent. Take care.

How high can the S&P go?

Hi Waggie, thanks for the educational part on the VIX. I knew the high level to be around 60 but could not find the original article and took a "guess- estimate" on the lower side. And on the bull/bear market? I singed with "just my 5 cents worth stirring". I apologize, I should have made...

Somebody tried to rip off my IB account and wire money to New Zealand

richtrader, no not from one of those places. If I like to go somewhere I trade from there. I may trade from Bali where they blew up my favourite hangout and just missed me. I may trade from the Philippines where I saw some daytraders being wiped out because some nutcases flew some planes...

    Transition: loser to winner

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won't work. Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like...

    The significance of Block Volume

It does make a lot of difference IF you know what to look for. And it is even more important intraday BUT... IF the issue is heavily traded then it may not be that noticeable. In addition it is often "manipulated" to give a different impression. All smoke and mirrors. Tapereading is an...

Somebody tried to rip off my IB account and wire money to New Zealand

I am PARANOID about security and I have worked 17 years in the computer industry. Sygate is a good firewall, used Zonealarm too but found it not as userfriendly. The Built in XP firewall does not check outgoing traffic and as such is next to useless. Am also using a hardware based...

How high can the S&P go?

What bull market? According to the Coppock indicator we are only having a correction in a bear market. Study the past and you get a feel for what is waiting. There is a lot of similarity ot the 1920 era. In those days the car and the telephone / telegraph was revolutionising the social...

How high can the S&P go?

And what about the VXO (old VIX) being at extreem low values? Humphrey B Neill said it all: Side with the minority - they are normally the ones that are correct. The public (masses) are normally wrong. Studying volume will show you that at this moment it are not the big players pushing the...

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

inandlong Many thanks for your reply. Toby Crabel does mention on gaps: if the day after the gap has opened at one end of the bar and closed on the other and the bar is in the direction of the trend. Then if the volume is good enter at the close as there likely will be a continuation...

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

inandlong Have just gone through this tread and understand that you are looking for the NR7 / IB and then take a trade on whatever side it breaks out. Where I am getting confused is that you mentioned that you use the H/L of the NR7/IB and have a stop 7 ~ 10 cents above/below that...
