    Margin and other great topics

So if i have $20,000 in my margin account,i assume i only get 2 to 1 leverage for day or overnight trades. So if i make 3 40k daytrades on Monday,i have to wait until the following Monday to trade again?

    Margin and other great topics

Personally,i think the PDT rule is a dumb rule that benefits no one.Why should someone that has 25k in his account be able to do an unlimited number of daytrades, while someone with a margin account that doesn't have 25k is limited to 3 trades over 5 days.Thank god for the pro firms that let one...

    Margin and other great topics

Now when you say 3 times in 5 days, does this mean i can use 2 to 1 leverage on my 20k giving me 40k worth of buying power and being able to initiate and liquidate three 40k positions over the 5 day period? Basically,am i able to buy and sell 3 times during a 5 day period 1000 shares of a $40...

    Margin and other great topics

I posted this in the IB thread but perhaps you didn't get a chance to see it yet,so i'll post it again...say you have $20,000 cash in a MARGIN account, how often would you be able to trade that (i'm assuming you would be allowed only up to 2 to 1 leverage for day or position trades since it is...

Ib requires minimum of 25k at all time to daytrade

yes it does thanks alot.i think there was only 1 question that i didn't ask...say you have $20,000 cash in a MARGIN account, how often would you be able to trade that (i'm assuming you would be allowed only up to 2 to 1 leverage for day or position trades since it is below 25k)?

Ib requires minimum of 25k at all time to daytrade

qazmax,it sounds like you are right and i would agree with you.one more question...say i have a margin account with 25k cash in it,so i get 4 to 1 leverage only for daytrades(otherwise 2 to 1 for overnight positions);now i buy 100,000 worth of stock(using my whole 4 to 1 margin)and sell it the...

Ib requires minimum of 25k at all time to daytrade

When i just talked to my broker(probably wrong),he said that in my cash account i can place an unlimited number of trades a day.So if i have 50k in the account,he said i could buy 50k worth of stock, sell it the same day,and make another 100 trades that same day if i wanted to. So my question is...

    SuperMontage end of July

That makes no sense...if you want to sell 3000 at 49.98,wouldn't you get all 3000 shares at 50(being that there are 3300 shares bid there)leaving 300 bid at 50?

    SuperMontage end of July

In addition,if anyone knows...if a proprietary trading firm enters a buy order into Supermontage that is lower than the best offer or a sell order that is higher than the best bid, will the order reject, like it does today under Supersoes?

Ib requires minimum of 25k at all time to daytrade

so you're saying if all i have is $10,000 in my cash account and i make a $10,000 purchase,i'm able to sell that position the same day,but then i'm unable to make any other trades until 3 days passes?

Ib requires minimum of 25k at all time to daytrade

if you have a cash account with over 25k cash in the account, are there limits to how many trades one can do in a day;does it change if you have less than 25k cash in the account?

    Supersoes Reserve Size Display Requirement

Real reason...MM's didn't want to show 1000 shares since that way you would know that they had a reserve;with 100 shares,it'll be a little harder to tell who has a reserve and who doesn't.When Supermontage comes out,the MM's will have one more tool to use to their benefit, and that is their...

    Arca

Say you put in a buy limit order higher than the current offer on ARCA for some Nasdaq stock. Does anyone know if ARCA will trade with ISLD hidden orders,MM's reserve orders, other ECN's reserve orders, odd lots, and orders entered with 3 decimal places(although shown on level 2 with only 2 decimal...

Does your stops stay open overnight on Nasdaq stocks, because i thought ARCA(only ECN that i know of that accepts stop orders)cancels all open orders at the end of the day?

    Daytrading profit potential

Maybe that's why trading firms recommend their traders trade slow moving, lower priced NYSE stocks. The trader trades more shares, makes less profits, but the firm gets more commissions.Personally,i'd rather trade less shares of a higher priced stock and pay less commissions.
