    Newbie question

no it's minus, you sell it at 1.98 and bught it at 1.9755, so you have a gain of 0.005. You paid 0.03733 for the premium, minus the gain of 0.005, and that's how much you lost as the option expired worthless atm. all these decimals is giving me a headache, will use some simple numbers...

    Backtesting Vs Trading Index Futures

i play with options on es futures. My backtesting was verry simple, going back 7 years, find the begin/end/high/low price between the 2 consective expiration dates month by month, then find how many months (out of 84) has a movement greater than 100 pts by expiration, 95 pts? 105 pts? etc..draw...

Bulls: She Is Rolling Down Since Yesterday: Why Are You Still In?

shrug doesnt change anything, still bullish and expects another rally, the technical is fine. But if it breaks below 1340 (ma20 and ma50) convergence, then i am neutral. If it breaks below 1320, then i become a bear. Has nothing to do with ego or magic ball predications, just go with the market.

How to get an options delta in IB?

why are you guys so harsh, IB is bulky for new users. Yeah one of the trick that really confused me was IB by default disables some of the key feature/columns, so even though you are at the right confgure screen it still wont show you the availiable option to pick until you enable them from...

Help with IB wont execute my limit option spread order..screenshot

sorry i dont understand, if the price (ask) was hit how could noone wants to sell it? Doesnt ask mean someone is selling at that price? (i am trying to close a short call spread, so buying the call spread to cover) Also it's not a all-or-none order, so it should executed at least partially...

No you are the one that is not getting it. With the exception of a few, all the banks will need to start raising cash to cover the additional writedowns. What C did was raising cash by selling its illiquid asset, this accomplishs 3 things right off the bat 1) clean up the balance sheet 2)...

what are you guys smoking? 90 cents on the dollar is EXCELLENT given the current liquidty and market situation for those products. Citi basically just unloaded a truck full of garbage and only lost 10% of what it paid. Of course the stock is going up...... We will see how this plays out...

    Put Selling

not to mention writing otm naked put will get you nuked by margin calls if the stock has a quick gap unless you can fully cover the underlying, even though the stock could revert right back up and end up being a winner at expiration. Look at when leh dropped to 20...how many accounts writing...

Bulls: She Is Rolling Down Since Yesterday: Why Are You Still In?

looking at the sp500 chart, technical strongly favors another upward spike after a week of consolidation and bullish outlook despite the daily bad news. I am looking for a move up very soon, probably by next monday latest. Then you have options expire week, which is anyone's guess what...

    ib es option margin problem

i noticed that too, writing otm naked contracts in IB requires significant margin. I just play around with the Check Margin button using a spread usually with the long contract 50 pt out of the short. Pretty stupid, for example when ES was at 1300 with juicy vol, instead of writing a 1150...

Best Platform for trading futures options?

Again those are rates for equity option contracts, not options on futures. IB charges $0.7 + exchange fee per contract with a min order of only $1 required. It is significantly lower than TOS. For options on futures, it's $1.7 all inclusive for the es mini options. Does anyone know how...

    The real tragedy ... education

While i admire your optimistic outlook on life and society, it still doesnt change the fact that you live inside a bubble - the pleasantville fantasy land. For every Stan Oneal, there are tens of thousands that failed and live a life in the ghetto and violence. Also Stan ONeal is hardly a...

Best Platform for trading futures options?

does anyone know the commission TOS charges? most brokerage including IB charges more for options on futures than normal equity option contracts. I am going to have a case of MAS ( multiple account syndrome ) lol, already got 3 open accounts in 3 different brokerages.

    Best Option Spread Strategy

But if the underlying moves heavily against you, making one of the leg DITM. Your loss will be greater than a normal same month IC due to the other leg.

Best Platform for trading futures options?

probably want to wait at least a month or two after TOS rolls out the options on futures to let them workout all the kinks first. Also their commission seems expensive compared to IB. The Options Spreads -> Generic in IB is just awesome, it lets you package anything you want into 1 trade with...
