    AAPL price action 01/14/13

Ok, I'm now interested in shorting. But things are all screwed up with the pending earnings announcement next week. Any slightest rumor and it goes running 3-4% in either direction, magnified by speculators dumping or covering. Trading this right now is basically rolling the dice and hoping...

    AAPL price action 01/14/13

But mega support at $500. I'm not shorting until I see a close below $500.

Don't miss the chance on Trading (shorting) RIMM

So tell us, how many shares do you have short yourself? Remember the mumbling about how dire the prospects were for facebook investors. Has anything fundamentally changed since then? Nope, other than the stock price being up by 60%. RIMM may have no future, but the market doesn't have...

Nasdaq total view or level 2

You're going to be hard pressed to get the entire market for the amount of money you are willing to spend. Exchange fees alone probably add up to more than $30.

    splits newbie question

I think the QuantQuote free data has some of what you need. Go here: https://quantquote.com/historical-stock-data Then click on the 'Free Data' tab. That will get you EOD, volume (from which you can calculate volume x price), and you should also be able to extract splits information...

Alternatives for SEC Filing alerts? (vs 10kwizard = morningstar)

It can't hurt to shop around, if somebody else can do it for less, that's good info for everybody to know...

    Historical Fundamental Data

Did you try emailing QuantQuote and seeing if they can do it? I am kind of interested in this data as well, but not curious enough to email them and get pricing, you should email them and report back :D

AAPL to hold 530 support area?

i think especially with aapl, you have severe risk from profit taking, especially near the end of the year. at the first sign of market weakness, aapl will be hit much harder than everything else.

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

Yea, these guys don't seem completely legit to me, I tried to get in touch with them and was also ignored. I had a QuantQuote TickView demo account (limited to 5 symbols with 5 second delay) and recently signed up for the full service. Even with professional exchange fees, it is well below...

No splits in Intraday Historical Data

Yea, QuantQuote includes both splits and dividend adjustments, including special dividends such as spin-off distributions. I think Tickdata can also include splits/dividends in their minutes data, but you need to do the adjustment yourself.

    Historical Fundamental Data

The way to get around it is to get the raw data (no split/dividend adjustment). Data providers are unlikely to screw up the raw data. Then, perform the adjustments yourself if necessary.

    A stock to consider short

How do you reason this with Ben still printing like crazy?
  15. F

    Historical Fundamental Data

QuantQuote has it, not for free though. But unlike compustat/wrds, etc, they'll sell it to individuals without a long term contract/subscription.

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

Perhaps, but even if it is just say 100 MBits, most customers won't be connected with a link that is capable of sustaining that speed, so bandwidth would still be a limiting factor. That's why it is generally better practice to calculate indicators locally.

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

I think it is worth pointing out that receiving iqFeed over the internet is going to cause you to drop ticks. During busy sequences, even for the top 3000 symbols only, if you are aggregating from all exchanges, you will easily saturate a 1GBit link. In fact, in the exchange colocation world...

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

I think if speed is important to you, you should not be getting the indicators from your data feed. This just slows down the feed and makes you miss more ticks because the data is slower as a result of also transmitting the indicators. It is preferable to go with a truly professional feed...

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

livevol pricing is INSANE, even more expensive than TickData which is already outrageously expensive.
