    AAPL has bottomed

If it gets to 425 again, I will probably get back in.

    Problem with yahoo history data

Careful with Yahoo Finance data, it is known to have some pretty egregious errors in it. For example, ITT on 20111101: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=ITT&a=09&b=1&c=2011&d=03&e=15&f=2013&g=d&z=66&y=330 Adjusted price jumps from ~$18 to ~$90 which can royally screw up your backtest. This...

    AAPL has bottomed

Forgot to post yesterday, but I'm out of AAPL now at 436. There wasn't momentum to breach 438 so now it's a coin toss and no longer a sure bet. Will watch today, but I'm confident there will be an opportunity to get it back at under 436 if I decide to go back in.

    MSFT confirmed bottom breakout

yea, microsoft is consistently played by the big boys (usually SAC), they always push it up 4-5% then turn around and short it, usually with the help of some news article they had a hand in getting out. this happened last fall too and will probably happen again this fall, it's always in...

    AAPL has bottomed

So, I think I know why AAPL is surging right now absent any news. Markets are surging like crazy, DJI and INDU both at record levels. At this point, traders can't afford to miss out on the rally so they need to keep buying in. Bears are getting destroyed and even the most convinced are...

    MSFT confirmed bottom breakout

I've dumped my shares. Think the upside is limited here on out. This was a long hold since last November, took much longer than I imagined for it to rise. Would have not been worth it if it weren't for the dividends. No idea what the catalyst is for this recent move but I see no reason for it to...

    AAPL has bottomed

Just in case anybody is wondering, I'm still long. Think a surge to 440 is quite realistic in the short term.

Evaluating data feeds - feedback please

I have tested NxCore on Linux, it has some compatibility problems with Wine and minGW so I can't recommend it for Linux based trading applications.

    AAPL has bottomed

Looking at the most recent chart, if you want to get in on this play, better hurry, it's spiked since I posted this. 430 will be crossed soon. It's retracing now back to 450 so there's plenty of upside.

    AAPL has bottomed

Been watching AAPL for some time now. It held well earlier today at 425. Prior to that, 420 was extremely strong support. In the past couple weeks, prices have tended to oscillate between 425 and 470. I just bought in at a bit over 425. A holding strategy now with a stop loss at 420 is a...

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

I pay $500/month (including market data fees, I'm considered pro user now, its much cheaper if you are non-pro) for 3000 symbols. It's a bit pricey, but since they also provide all of the backfills at the end of the day, I see it also as a really cheap way to get historical tick data. Buying...

    Buy some AAPL $450?

I'd wait. $450 didn't hold today so all bets are now off.

real-time data feed that includes full level 2

Unless you are colocated, you're going to have to pay a ton of money for that. I don't think there are data providers that will send you that over the internet, they will require you to run a dedicated line to your server which will cost major $$

I don't disagree that there might be some opportunity for a RIMM short, I'm just pointing out that your timing is terrible.

Don't miss the chance on Trading (shorting) RIMM

Just curious, are you still short or have you covered? I'm wondering how many shorters are still in the game. The squeeze on Friday should have finished off most of the weaker hands. Still, the stock should continue to appreciate leading up to the launch. I wouldn't short until after the...

    Historical Fundamental Data

Care to comment what your price range is so we have some point of reference? @Shadetree42, QuantQuote has corporate earnings data with their historical stock data, there was a column in my data purchase that had it, not sure if they sell it separately. You'd have to email them to ask.
