I had 4min delays yesterday on ER2 but everything seems to be ok today.

IQFeed was updating some of their servers this morning, yes during market hours, and my ER2 feed was running 4min behind IB. If you're having problems, contact DTN tech support for a working server ip address.

As an ex Ensign/eSignal/TradeStation 8.x/TS2000i user, "freezing" typically refers to charts not updating. When the entire application "locks up" that's a different problem. Sry for the misunderstanding. Good luck!

Ok, then please clarify. When you say eSignal "freezes when the market is closed", I understand, the market is closed. Why would you expect data? Obviously you need to provide more details about your problem.

If you're referring to processing data C or C++ should be sufficient for most tasks but for simplicity or ease of use, VB or C# will get you there a lot faster.

I believe there's a way to setup two user names for one account. This will allow you to run two instances of TWS on one IB account with one or two computers. Log into your account on IB's web site and check out some of the options.
