I trade during the day ... I have better things to do that read your drivel. Your predictions have been nothing to pat yourself on the back about. Rather, to me it shows your apparent insecurity. Anyone who resorts to such perhaps has self esteem problems. And there's no way you, or...

    basketball and trading

I'd hope the trade was based on your rules; otherwise why have the rules? And I'd be full of panic if I were at the free throw line and realized the trade was NOT based on your rules. I'd be back at my computer in no time.

Does everyone win on a day like today??

The market is not a zero sum game. More shares are held long than short and over time the market rises creating more "winners' (i.e. more wealth).

    Is daytrading here to stay?

Sure it's here to stay. It never went away. Just a lot of people wash out. I don't see it as futile. If you're willing to work, are disciplined and manage both your capital and trades effectively you can succeed. I'm no genius and I've been doing this 7+ years.

    Jesse J...

Maybe Jesse has a proprietary "random number generator" ... that might explain his predictions. And as to your latter point ... successful traders don't have to blow their own horns. The fact Jesse does says a lot more than his posts. I suggest ignoring him.

I have never seen a better trader than

Note the January 2002 time frame!!! That's about 1 profitable (15%) trade per month. And there's no mention of the losers ... but I'm sure MrMarket amuses himself.

    vicious buyers today

Surprising strength but I bet we close below the current +55 Dow and +12 COMPX by the end of the day. So far one has had to be nimble on the shorts .. great opportunity around 10:00 and I think we'll see another opportunity yet today.

    EBAY.. short sandwich

I think you'll be in the money soon. It's getting way ahead of itself. And the $35 million they have to pay in the patent case can't be seen as a positive. And if they have to alter how they do business then it could get real interesting. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/030527/ebay_lawsuit_8.html

Why is magna removing my bland jokes?

Your calls have been worthless. What's your "tolerance" on Dow 9000? Plus or minus 300 points? I suppose if we wait long enough the Dow will, in fact, hit 9000. If it happens in August is that a good call for you? How about December 2003? 2004? And why don't you keep your word? You did...

Why do quants need to know programming?

Anyone coming out of any accredited institution with a degree in math, engineering, business will have some kind of training in programming. Earlier you asked about back in the 80's ... I can only guess that back then it might have been FORTRAN, perhaps PL/1. I graduated in the mid 70's and...

    Daily Trading Commissions Cost

I've never traded with IB so I can't comment on them. I have traded for 7 years and am currently with MB Trading. Their rates are low now but they're cutting them a bit more next week per the link below. http://www.mbtrading.com/newrates.asp

what should I do?? (another n00b question)...

The above implies you want to focus on trading long if I understand you correctly. Waiting for a bear market to get in on the bounce or riding the current bull market (which I actually don't see as a bull market). If you're going to trade for a living I think you have to be able to trade short...

what should I do?? (another n00b question)...

I'd rethink the above statement. What about a pro athlete who trashes his knee and the pro career is over. Lots of those guys don't have much to fall back on. And as prepared and confident as you might be you should know that the majority who pursue trading as their livelihood do fail.

Optimal exit point once a position has turned against you?

I think the hesitation might be due to wanting to know with some maximum probability that the trade will be a winner. Eacxh trade has risk and you'll never have 100% confirmation that you have a winner. So you need to enter a trade when your criteria are met, techincal or otherwise. On the...

an all time great post of info in advance

Post by Jesse J: 05-05-03 07:41 PM ok, i'll buck a trend on ET of "mass generalizations", and say.. Yes, by May 23rd the DOW will be at 9000 Okay, as best I can tell today is May 23. And the Dow is at 9000 ... no wait ... oh, it's just at 8600. So much for your calls ...

How Do Yall Maintain your Discipline??

Don't agree with the above ... a profit beats a loss any day of the week. And no one is smart enough to buy the bottom and sell the top. Personally I typically sell into strength as a stock starts to plateau and run out of gas.

    A Question of Strategy

Just a thought ... but have you ever thought of trading NASDAQ stocks? I always hated to trade NYSE stocks due to slower confirm times due to the specialist being a middleman of sorts. In past years I "specialized" for a while and traded just 2 stocks (SUNW and ASND ... good old Ascend...

    Annika Watch

Missed only one fairway and only 3 greens I believe. If she had any feel on the greens she'd have been at maybe 67 or 68 ... 33 putts isn't gonna let anyone shoot low ... missed a few birdie putts inside 10 feet and had two 3 putts for her only bogeys. I was intrigued so much that I blew off...

    Annika Watch

Doesn't look like that's going to happen. She shot -1 on the front 9 and hit every fairway. She also beat both of her playing partners ... both of them were +1 ... impressive showing so far.
