Giving up is hard to do......

Playing the short side in addition to the long side gives one a chance to make money on any day. Oftentimes after strong rallies I go short looking for a slight pullback. Only playing the long side cuts the playing field in half.

    Tomorrow Black Friday?

Great song, Black Friday ... Steely Dan (1975) from the Katy Lied album/CD

    market makers

In your original post you clearly indicated you didn't know the difference between an ECN and a MM. If you did you'd have used MSCO, GSCO, MLCO, etc. instead of BRUT & CINN. But you said "I'm wondering if at a market making firm, does one guy trade the same stock all day long, everyday? say at...

    Dave Allman

The Duane Allman Anthology album is good ... playing with the likes of Boz Scaggs, Clapton, Delaney & Bonnie, Wilson Pickett, ... Then there's Live at the Fillmore East; great double album. Saw them live a few times back in the 70's. Had all their albums from the late 60's until early 80's...

What's Your Edge? (For Equity Traders)

    (1) Trade stocks I "know" (2) I don't get greedy (a profit is a profit) and take what the market gives me

    Women on the wall street

Can't speak for her ... but some people enjoy teaching. I knew a number of professors in college who had been out in the corporate world (business and engineering careers) for years who chose to pursue teaching at the college level AND also pursued their respective interests (funded projects...

    Does everyone have a degree?

Yeah, but trading is even better ... spent a lot of my time out in Mountain View, CA when I worked on the AI stuff

    Does everyone have a degree?

Did a fair amount of work in AI back in the mid 80's to early 90's; mainly expert systems w/ lots of rules, heuristics, etc. I loved the buttons we got at one conference where we presented ... it said "Artificial Intelligence --- Better Than None at All" ...

    Trading versus other businesses

I'd suggest you go with the $30K to allow for any early drawdowns if you plan to day trade. I assume you're aware that as a pattern day trader (PDT) you'll need to maintain an account balance over $25K. http://www.nasdr.com/filings/rf00_03.asp

Once again, you post and waste more bandwidth. Hit your quota of posting for the day? And by the way ...no, I didn't miss the point. Next time perhaps you can read my post and maybe, just maybe .... comprehend it. It's not rocket science.

Why some of you keep hammering away on this BDT nonsense is humorous. Do you believe everything you read? How about everything you hear? Do you NOT believe in doing your own due diligence before investing $$$? Sorry, but this type of advertising abounds ... ever been up late at night and...

Looking for a Mentor/Coach, NYC Area

Good luck ... if you're not willing to pay for the services don't expect much (from anyone). Do you think a golf teacher gives lessons free? Most any professional, who is successful in their chosen profession, will expect some compensation for their time. Ones time is worth $$$. Taking time to...

BDT isn't either a broker or software provider, are they? How on earth would someone rate a service providing calls on stocks? I can see it now ... when the "sheep" are making money from the calls they'd all rate the service a "10". When they're losing their shirts they'd rate it a "1".

Do Not Buy Gas May 19, 2004!!

You forgot that they need to drive 'lil Johnny to his soccer game too ... If not mistaken, one reason Ford has decided to quit making the Excursion (which was bigger than the Expedition ... which was bigger than the 'lil old Explorer), is that the damn things didn't fit in some garages.

Do Not Buy Gas May 19, 2004!!

The hybrids are a start ... my fiance just got her 2004 Prius (after waiting 6 months due to demand). She's averaging over 50 mph and gets 60 mph or more on the highway. She drove it over a month before having to fill it up. Re: symptoms ... if we didn't have all those gas guzzling SUV's...

    BestDayTrader Q&A

Sorry if I was a little confusing. My point is that some people need to be led by the hand ... so for someone new to the game they might see "value" in some advisory service. But, I strongly believe that one can't be a "follower" as they mature as a trader. I think most who achieve any...

    BestDayTrader Q&A

My thoughts on "exits" is that if people expect to be told WHEN to enter AND exit then they aren't cut out to be a trader. That's the easy way to always have a scapegoat ... with losing trades you can blame whomever made the call. It's all about personal responsibility to me. Clearly one has to...

    BestDayTrader Q&A

    (1) Anyone who is not totally naive would not be making a big deal over the $18,000 per day potential profits (or whatever it was). Why? Because anyone who is the least bit informed and knowledgeable about trading knows such claims are perhaps possible, but highly unlikely. (2) This thread has...

    The truth, I'll prove it

My thoughts: First, they do exist. They just don't need to brag about it. They aren't lacking in self esteem. (1) Traders who are successful have lives outside of trading and don't hang out on bulletin boards posting all day about how successful they are. (2) The bottom line is: Does...
