Why shorting is no longer a viable strategy in the US Market.

Like you I see lots of $$$ possible playing the short side. Only someone who hasn't a clue as how much money can be made shorting stocks (everyday) would start such a thread. Shorting is, and always will be a viable way to make $$$ in stocks.

Two Years...Dow is south...Bigger picture pays

What are you smoking? Up HUGE?? The Dow is up 30 points over the past 10 trading session and the COMPX is up 30 or so. I'd hardly call that huge ... a 0.3% gain in the Dow and maybe 1.5% in the COMPX. Offsetting the big up days of +173 and +170 were down days of -115, -133, -66. Similar...

    I Can't Figure it Out!!!!!!!

Have you analyzed what's happening in the 20 times you've given it all back? We all make mistakes in trading ... but learning from them is what gets you to the next level.

    I Can't Figure it Out!!!!!!!

It sounds like you have a lot of built up emotions & frustrations regarding the roller coaster ride you've apparently been on. I'd guess that after you hit a losing streak you have negative emotions that may be adversely influencing your trading. Perhaps you're forcing trades and trying to make...

    Google and Cramer.

What's worse is that he answers himself. I asked that one of his useless threads yesterday be moved to Chit Chat and they did so. It was another of those threads where no one replied to his drivel. He's been asked to start a journal or go to chat but seems determined to keep talking to himself.

9/20/05: The Only Direction To Trade Is...

Hey, he claims he runs a 9 figure hedge fund. Surely you can understand that someone who runs such a fund would post such childish stuff. And funny but now Rubber Ducky is using "Sir" just like jackbyrd. Can you say "alias"? -------------------------------------------------- rubberbird...

    How come there's no capitulation?

Wow ... how on earth do you have time to post such drivel while co-managing a 9 figure hedge fund? LOL The thread title is about "capitulation"; not bashing. For the thread starter ... I think we'll continue to see a slow bleed of the markets with occasional bounces. I suspect once we get...

All Doomsday Refco posts and market continues its march higher.

Where did anyone say that Refco situation would "sink every financial firm in the country"? This is why your posts are so worthless; these's nothing of any substance behind them. Refco has been discussed extensively on ET but much of the focus was on whether they'll survive, whether to...

All Doomsday Refco posts and market continues its march higher.

Are you on crack? The market continues it march higher? Geez, you must be high! FYI this week we have the Dow -76 thru TH, COMPX -43, last week Dow was -276,COMPX -61. Maybe you're charts are upside down. If you're gonna start a thread at least post something semi-intelligent .. if...

    Prop shops in/near South Carolina

I live in the Charleston area and trade full time retail remote. Although SC may not be a financial center here's a good article about a local firm that does 5% of NASDAQ daily volume, 65 million shares on an average day. http://www.siemon.com/design/us/company/case_studies/atd.asp

9/20/05: The Only Direction To Trade Is...

Speaking of delusional .. how's your 9 figure hedge fund? Wanna make a wager on the reality of whether you co-manage such a fund? Oh wait, that challenge was already issued with no reply. And actually, 55 is 3.5% of 1560. And you claimed stats were such a good class in college .. and...

Good Chance market near a short term low.

What do you mean? He claims he co-manages a 9 figure hedge fund. And claims he's been "immortalized" as a trader. Only bad part is when he was asked him 3 times what the fund was and who the co-managers were he wouldn't throw out any names. And no periodicals were named that wrote so highly of...

Need Advice on career change into trading

I certainly am not a "rah rah" guy. I've admitted it's hard work. Most entrepreneurial ventures in life are hard work. And people who don't have the desire to fight through tough times will likely fail. Not sure where you got your start trading but the office I started in told me I should only...

    Blood on the Streets

Why do you even acknowledge someone who posts such drivel? I doubt he trades at all. After reading some of his posts I think he should change his ID to "whatareyousmoking". Every thread he starts is nothing but useless garbage.

Need Advice on career change into trading

Hahaha! You believe what brokers tell you? Psychologically it's interesting to read all the negatives people post. Some are probably from failed traders, some are from people who read something and believe it, some are from those who don't want to put in the effort to succeed as a trader...

Need Advice on career change into trading

Agree with the stress part ... but maybe he/she requires less income from trading. And maybe it's the "freedom" thing ... I don't make as much $$ trading as I did in my final corporate job but it doesn't bother me .. I'm not trying to maximize income .. rather I'm trying to balance making a...

Need Advice on career change into trading

One reason is that money doesn't buy happiness, at least for a lot of people. Some people might be seeking freedom .. freedom from corporate politics, freedom from employee hassles, freedom for 16+ hour days. I knew of a guy who was making $500K/year as an IT exec. He quit to become a forest...

Need Advice on career change into trading

Hard work does not mean success in any endeavor. Does a kid who aspires to be a pro athlete reach his goal because he focuses on it day in and day out for years? Not necessarily. What about someone who opens a restaurant? If they work 16 hours a day will they succeed? Not necessarily. They...

Need Advice on career change into trading

Obviously, you didn't read my reply to the other guy. But just to add even more .. some people (i.e. myself) didn't want to spend their entire working life in the same industry, corporate or otherwise ... some of us have more motivation to excel in other endeavors. Some of us achieved our...

Need Advice on career change into trading

You can succeed, some of the negative posts here are from failed traders. What's your chance of success? A lot depends on how hard you're willing to work. If you worked hard to build a business then you know what kind of challenges might be out there on the way to success. I left the corporate...
