    low commission broker???

That was my point from the start but Rockford seemed to not believe what we post. The 3.2% is $320 for a year. Enough to pay SEC fees on over $10.4 million in trades. For Rockford's benefit: (1) 3.2% x 10,000 = $320.00 (2) SEC fee = 0.0000307 (3) $320/0.0000307 = 10,423,452.

    low commission broker???

    I have my statement in hand. November 30, 2005. It's the Scudder MM Portfolio. Entry 11/30/05 MoneyFund 2.999% 11/01 - 11/30.

    The bears were wrong

Not sure why you'd conclude that. Re-read my post again. The COMPX needs to gain over 100% to reach the 5000 level again. Do you dispute that? Semi's were incredibly overpriced in 1999-2000. I took advantage of it. So no, I'm not a frustrated bear. I've been trading full time 10 years. Anyone...

    low commission broker???

Winter, I saw no mention of the apparent fact that IB pays no interest on idle cash if it's less than $10,000. I don't have my December MB statement but in November we were getting 3% or so, could be up near 3.5% now. That extra $350 interest per year offsets SEC fees on about $11,500,000 in...

    The bears were wrong

Don't agree with you. You seem to have conveniently picked selected time frames for your basis. I was bearish in Feb. 2000, right before the NAZ tanked. Shorting VTSS at $100 was actually easy to do given the outlandish valuations. Where is VTSS today, 6 years later? $2.34. The NAZ was...

    Humbled and Depressed

If this is your livelihood, then you need to treat it as such. Maybe VRTX was a winner. But what happens next time if she throws out a stock that ends up tanking. Will that cause friction and arguments between the two of you? Will you blame her for the "loss"? Will she get defensive? What might...

I just blew up my account today, I need a job!

Absolutely, a person can give advice (as a broker) and not be a successful trader. I have a number of friends who are very successful stockbrokers. They also have told me that they know they could not trade and make a living. If you were a broker then you should know that brokers often toss out...

I just blew up my account today, I need a job!

I think you're clueless about the difference between a trader and a stockbroker. Totally different worlds.

Do you start new year with same $$$ amount as prior year?

I think it makes sense to reinvest some of the profits in the startup capital for the following year. Look at any company out there. How did they grow? Reinvesting $$$ in the company and the people. I take out what I need for living expenses and estimated taxes and let most of the remaining...

Packaging yourself for a life after trading fulltime

People that only make money in bull markets are not going to survive long term. Whether they choose to not play the short side or don't know how to trade choppy markets is a big problem. I saw a lot of traders in the late 90's that "thought" they were traders; made good $$$ but back then anyone...

Seems to be alot of ex/current Engineers in trading

Much of my background in Engineering was Operations Research, focused on optimization. With trading I found that one can not find an optimal solution but a "good" solution is more than enough to achieve ongoing profitability. Forever trying to optimize can drive one crazy.

Seems to be alot of ex/current Engineers in trading

Just as you learned the various aspects of whatever engineering discipline you're in (and I too was an engineer prior to trading) you can "learn" to not be as rigid in trading. It can, and does, take a change in mindset as the markets are more "random walks" than logical conclusions to a bunch...

What posts make the true old pros laugh?

The above statement couldn't be more wrong! Perhaps some aspiring traders fit that mold. But some independent traders made (i.e saved) enough $$ from their corporate jobs and left to pursue trading, at least I did (10 years ago) and am still at it. Lots of people have goals in life and when...

Students make 18% by managing funds

You're way off base, plenty of university's have students managing real money. AT the University of Dayton they have $5 million, or more, under management. They started with $1 million in 1999. The text below was from end of 2002, after the crash in 2000 and subsequent 2 years. They outperformed...

    ALLLL Aboard thats going Ashort!!!

And don't forget that he's also a legend with regression analysis and P&F charting. He's doesn't appear to be terrribly bright ... he makes up stuff, thinking it'll fly by posters. Then when someone challenges, or proves he's wrong, he tries to use his flawed arguments again. The stuff about...

And you wouldn't be violating laws to disclose the fund. Are you telling me that no one knows the name of any hedge fund manager and the fund they're affiliated with? You're more desperate than I thought.

We betting on the hedge fund you suposedly co-manage? That bet has been extended to you in the past .. you chose to not take it.

    ALLLL Aboard thats going Ashort!!!

No, I didn't run. I had 3 bets extended to you in the past and you chose to not take them ... so I'm not going to waste my time again. And I'm not here to get into a pissing contest and act like a 4 year old like you. If you took the time to actually READ your posts you'd know why they're so...

    ALLLL Aboard thats going Ashort!!!

No different than when he claimed he co-managed a 9 figure hedge fund .. no answer on that .. or when he claimed he was "immortalized" as a trader in some publications ... no answer on that ... You know full well he'll not answer anything that he can't substantiate. It's a repeating pattern.
