Too old to get a trader job ?

No risk, no reward. We take risks most everyday of our lives ... crossing the street, driving, etc. But when it comes to money a lot of people get gunshy as it's a natural fear to not want to lose money that we've worked for (in the past) and saved. But if you were starting any other type...

Big Biotech Stocks, next big move?

Agree smaller ones are dong well. SVNT is one I've gotten into again (last year). Was at $3 in October and now $5.33 (that's just under 80% in 6 months and up over 42% since January 1. I both bought some to hold and trade it most every day. They had a mess with restatements last year which...

    Negligent Broker... what to do?

I don't believe you previously stated you had documented everything and sent it to Brownco. Or if you did I apparently missed it. In any event, did you ask to speak to a manager or some higher up that the typical customer service rep to plead your case? Personally I'd have stood my ground if I...

    Negligent Broker... what to do?

No, I didn't miss your original point. If you were so certain about not needing to liquidate your positions all you needed to do was present your evidence to support your position. I can't imagine being in a position where I was unsure of my positions and /or a possible margin call. Why didn't...

    Negligent Broker... what to do?

Don't take this the wrong way .. but if you're serious about trading you'd not used a firm like Brownco IMO. Second, even if they gave you erroneous info you ultimately sold your long positions. So it was a choice you made. They didn't go and liquidate them from what you posted.

How long did it take to start making a living from Trading?

Wrong. I've been retail and full time for 10 years. Retail traders, can, and do, make a living. I never had any desire to be a prop trader. An aspiring trader can succeed going either route.

    Wine

You got that right ... for the price it's the best Chardonnay around. As long as you have a Trader Joe's around you can get the stuff ... otherwise you're up a creek since they don't distribute it by any other means. I recall when it first became a rage that CNBC had a piece on it and had...

Has Anyone Ever Heard of UD RISE?

March 30 - April 1, 2006 http://rise.udayton.edu Looks like some decent speakers. The university (Dayton) has students who manage about $6 million. They've beaten the averages each of the past 5 years.

Students make 18% by managing funds

From a Spring 2006 publication: Few fund managers have a record of consistently beating their benchmarks. But University of Dayton finance students do. That's why University of Dayton trustees are entrusting them with another $2 million to invest. That brings the total of undergraduate...

Coughing up the $25k requirement for Pattern Day Trading

I don't think there's any law against stupidity. People who chased the market, with little to no knowledge, were likely focused on greed and wanting to make a quick buck with no "investment" (learning). I don't feel sorry for those kinds of people. Before anyone ventures into a business...

What's the worst Brokerage out there right now, and whose the worse clearing firm?

Funny, I've had 4 accounts at E*Trade for 10 years. No issues and no problems. My active trading account is elsewhere due to commission structure. Of course I have a firewall, anti-virus software and the E*Trade digital security key ID. I take responsibility for protecting my computer. Sorry...

If IB's Website Contains Falsehoods, Customers are SOL

From what you've posted you didn't incur any loss. Life goes on and a real trader accepts occasional glitches. To go on and on about it for 2 days suggests to me you're probably not a full time trader as you'd not divert so much time & effort to this. When you sign on with any firm to trade...

ANNOUNCEMENT- seeking traders interested in overturning the PDT rule

Obviously your mind is made up. I can only laugh at the absurdity of the above statement. I'm sure the MM's at GSCO, MSCO, MLCO, BEST, SBSH, PRUS, UBSS, etc. are terrified of having to compete with the $5K wanna be retail traders. They're making markets, it's their PROFESSION, they have capital...

ANNOUNCEMENT- seeking traders interested in overturning the PDT rule

I stated that it was important for traders to also be knowledgeable and understand the markets they wish to trade in addition to be properly capitalized. Way too many people, not just in the late 90's, but even today, "decide" that they're going to make a bunch of money trading. That's a great...

ANNOUNCEMENT- seeking traders interested in overturning the PDT rule

Come on. The rule may not be perfect as it excludes other factors to "qualify" a trader (such as training, education, etc.). People who don't have proper capitalization have little chance of succeeding. But to suggest that they don't want a level playing field by setting the $25K limit is...

    Very hard time taking loss:(

You're not going to be profitable on 100% of your trades. That's what you seem to suggest to me. When you have a loser you want to average down and/or "hope" it'll move back up to being profitable. You might think about having BOTH pre-defined entry AND exit points prior to entering a trade...

    Jobs Reaction

Actually I tried to help you and explain there's 2 sides to the market. You need to learn how to reach charts, interpret news, etc. Your drivel, claiming people should buy every dip, is nothing more than uninformed nonsense. I've made money the past 2 days, how about you? Oh sorry, I...

    Jobs Reaction

I guess Andy, Barney, Gomer and Opie haven't come in for their haircuts today so he's ranting the same as yesterday. I imagine he's getting smoked though given the direction the market since his GOOG ranting.

    Ankle grabbing Bears.

I don't call tops or bottoms. I trade. I was merely pointing out your continued drivel about buying the dip is nonsense. Real traders trade BOTH sides of the market. You sound like a desperate long ... somehow HOPING that the market will rally every time it declines. And if you look in...

    Ankle grabbing Bears.

Sorry I don't get emotional. I've been doing this for a living for 10 years. You seemingly have no concept of markets (and individual stocks) declining and shorting them. Buy the dip .. haha! Did you buy the dip in 2000? If so, you're still hurting. The COMPX isn't gonna see 5000 for a long...
