    C++ API for Interactive Brokers??

    I doubt there's much latency between the C# layer in Ninja and the IB API. Unless you're planning on doing HFT. :D You're better off sticking with the language you're most familiar with instead of chasing a few microseconds in an unfamiliar one.

    C++ API for Interactive Brokers??

    I write IB API applications in C++ all the time, many with GUI. I have no problems at all due to the blocking calls or Unicode. Also, I recommend using the "TwsApiCpp" class library here: https://github.com/JanBoonen/TwsApiCpp I use this exclusively in my apps for IB API connectivity.

    How about this spread trade?

    Right. You'd have to have a tighter trigger level for closing the trade initially. Really this isn't much different than just taking a directional trade like ES traders do. You need to be right pretty much immediately or else you're looking to get out.

    How about this spread trade?

    The easiest way to do a what-if is to look at the mid of the spread right now and the currently trading ATM strikes of the same spread (just shifted down or up).

    How about this spread trade?

    No but the next strike down is trading at around 0.60. Gamma can kill you this close to expiration. So $2200 - 600 - 300 still = $1200.

    How about this spread trade?

    I just pulled up the chain for today's SPX expiry. The ATM put is trading at around $2.00 so you'd be taking a $2000 - 300 loss if you closed when the underlying touched the strike.

    Turkey restricts retail leveraged forex trading to $13,500 deposit, cuts leverage to max 10:1

    But how will I make money if there isn't anyone out there giving it to me?

    How about this spread trade?

    OK I see better what you're doing. So these are credit spreads that are only held intraday. Granted the tail risk is fairly small for a 1 day move but it still exists. At least gap risk isn't a concern.

    How about this spread trade?

    I understand that you're planning on managing the trade by closing the short if it goes ITM. Nonetheless your max risk is $5000 - $300 = $4700 since SPX can gap past both strikes overnight. "Unlikely" is a subjective term. You can easily calculate the probability of the short closing ITM and...

    How about this spread trade?

    You max risk isn't "a few hundred" it's a few thousand. 2330 - 2325 = 5 which is 500 per spread. For 10 spreads that's $5000 so you're hoping for a 6% return on risk. You haven't said how you're deciding how far away to place the short put. That's crucial because it affects your probabilities...

    Triangular arbitrage

    Another example was the artificially created correlation where CHF was pegged to the EUR. I actually know a few guys that were playing this "sure thing" right up until the Swiss dropped the peg unexpectedly. The EURUSD/USDCHF/EURCHF triangle has been extensively explored on certain Forex-only...

    Backup Broker to IB

    If you're willing to pay a monthly fee, you could use Sterling Trader. They're a consistent front-end to many major brokers like IB and Lightspeed.

    Backup Broker to IB

    I don't understand how one would use a backup broker. If you split your trading capital 50/50 between 2 different brokers I assume you'd be trading actively in both. Otherwise you'd have half your capital parked somewhere doing nothing. Switching between 2 different user interfaces would make...

    Price Increase for Feeds If Classified Professional?

    I got hit with that questionnaire out of the blue a few weeks ago after the yearly profile update. It seemed strange to me but if I didn't fill it out they threatened to cut off my data.

    Should I move to Tradestation ?

    Well keep in mind that DRIPs are for investing, now trading. IB is for trading.

    Backup Broker to IB

    Backup in case of what exactly?
  19. stevegee58

    Should I move to Tradestation ?

    No bill pay - IB isn't a bank. No DRIP - All stocks are held in street name. You'd only have a DRIP if you owned stock with direct registration. i.e. you bought the stock from the company like IBM, etc.
