    Let's talk about futures

Thanks, every time I learn sometime new and get it under my belt, something new comes around I don't know anything about.

    Let's talk about futures

100 percent automation....Do you mean that the program makes trades based on certain parameters you have given it? To be traded independently without intervention? Are you afraid that the program might get 'stuck' at a critical moment or make trades outside of the boundaries you set going...

    Let's talk about futures

I'll admit I am a rookie and still learning a lot but I have a few questions... 1. Do most ES traders only trade index futures? Any other commodities/contracts? What is ES ? 2. I trade the 6E (euro future) exclusively. The way I look at it is all markets have their own nuances; I am more...

    A few observations

The links? So, when the 50 day SMA and the 200 day SMA meet on the same line is it generally an indication that there will be greater movement in the direction of the 50 day line ?

    A few observations

I did not know there were different ways of determining Beta. It seems like it should be standardized. But a company has had as much turmoil as CMG should have a much higher beta than .30. It went up $13 today and the Beta went down to .2994. I don't recall every seeing one this low.

    A few observations

I was looking at Chipotle's. I was wondering how it was doing after its recent scare with the contamination they had around Christmas, the free Burrito giveaways and the coupons they have been passing out. The stock has taken off. It was up $11 yesterday and up $9 so far today. Much of it has...

    Dennis Gartman's Rules for Trading

It's hard for any of them to give 10 recommendations a day , day in and day out and be correct. But.....I think a lot of these 'special guests' are only brought on tv because they can talk fast in 10 second soundbites, they are relatively attractive and because they are able to make themselves...

Bernanke's Former Advisor: "People Would Be Stunned To Know The Extent To Which The Fed Is Private

"A lot of people would be stunned to know” the extent to which the Federal Reserve is privately owned, Mr. Levin said. The Fed “should be a fully public institution just like every other central bank” in the developed world, he said in a conference call announcing the plan. He described his...

    Dennis Gartman's Rules for Trading

Yeah, he doesn't have the best track record. but I guess it's tough trying a be a tv host and come up with 10 ideas everyday. I wonder how much that he and Cramer actually believe of their own recommendations ? 30 days ago he was suggesting that oil was headed to 10 dollars a barrel. Even I...

    Dennis Gartman's Rules for Trading

There are a lot of rules for trading. Everybody has some. I found these from Dennis Gartman , the guy that has a guest spot on CNBC quite often. I just thought someone might find them interesting, considering that most of the people on this forum probably know who he is...

When can I shred my papers?

This is what the IRS says........and it's not a straight forward answer. How long should I keep records? The length of time you should keep a document depends on the action, expense, or event which the document records. Generally, you must keep your records that support an item of income...

The 17 countries with the highest level of government debt

I was surprised to see so many European nations on the list and not as many South American and African nations. Maybe their treasuries are not as transparent as ours in the West. 2 Greece 173% 5 Italy 132% 6 Portugal 128 % 7 Ireland 122% 8 Cyprus 112% 10 USA 104%...

Unfilled Limit Order - Why doesn't the broker fill it and collect the commission??

What was the stock? Was it GE, MSFT, AAPL ? Was it thinly traded, perhaps a stock that is not widely available? You put in a buy limit order at say.......10.00 and the price was 10.01. If you already agreed to pay a max of 10.00 why would you think they would buy it for you at 10.01? If they...

    Should corporations pay tax?

I don't think it is an easy answer, but I think corporations should pay taxes on their income but I think that more could be done to make things more competitive. But you can't have a blanket policy across the board and treat a guy that owns a laundrymat the same as Boeing, Lockheed Martin and...

    Should corporations pay tax?

I would be happier if they would eliminate taxes on dividends. The corporation already pays taxes. And as a shareholder you are getting your share of the income based on your proportional ownership. Why should you have to pay a tax on something you have already been taxed on ? It's a double...
