because everyone says we need capitulation, maybe we'll never have it

i agree with the OP in some ways. i expect there to be a capitulation "bottom" point, but then expect there to be a grind-em-out period of years which will sap the energy out of most buy-and-hold people. the 70s were like that. the 30s were like that. the late 19th century was like that...

housing sale in nyc, q about 1970s.

big housing sale in nyc area this past weekend on foreclosed places. it made the front page of the ny post before it happened. today's papers have stories about the people who finally could afford a house, and what great deals they got. my thoughts: if the press is reporting the "great...

$100K+ accts, any ideas for a secondary broker?

with 100k+, i'd suggest a secondary broker as a backup in case of outage by your main broker. not the question, but that's my answer.

    cnbc FINALLY getting bearish.

i've been waiting for a while. i'm finally starting to see signs. today, at about 3:40, dylan ratigan talked with two guys on the floor of the NYSE about how no trades were working, and what could anyone do... one of the guys agreed (that nothing), then said to short the banks, as that...

daily show / jon stewart and cnbc

agreed RE: stanford, should have mentioned that as well. i have NO proof of this, but vicious rumor is that powers-that-be above santelli squashed the appearance, thus daily show's version of payback.

daily show / jon stewart and cnbc

it's at: http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=220252&title=cnbc-gives-financial-advice pretty funny to watch. they're a bit off with santelli, since he HAS bashed virtually all bailouts and been terribly consistent... but as they show, the rest of cnbc gravitates...

Good broker for shorting sub-$5 stocks (Other than IB)

morka is right. penson generally frowns on allowing sub $5 stocks unless there's a significant float on them. they will do it on special request....but penson tends to be the most conservative of the clearing firms.

    Blockbuster Bankruptcy

blockbuster's been overpriced for years and years. we used to go to movie gallery when we wanted to watch because it was a bunch cheaper than BBI. unfortunately, local one went out. then, just in time...supermarkets by us started having the red box video rental machines. those are $1/day...

SEC fees on stock transctions going up.

to reward a job well done? i've long been an advocate of more funding for the SEC, but also a cleaning out of their staff, and some rule that you can't jump from the SEC to the companies the SEC investigates / works with without a several year wait.

neat - spammer / snake oil booted!

seankelly63...google it, you'll have to wash off afterwards. all exc. phillipines and maine guy are the same. (and his "press release" about it was poorly written as well, but you'll have to hunt that part down)

neat - spammer / snake oil booted!

wow, the snake oil guy / spammer was booted from ET, was on career trader... he was apparently selling vitamins with bible scripture, doing mortgage re-fi'ing, a couple MLM schemes, and "how to turn $5 into 100,000 / yr!". what a collection of stuff. a junior jeff paul...

Traders' Expo this weekend in NYC - anyone?

years ago, i went on a "tour" of it. complete waste of time. i remember part of it was a simulation game to buy stocks and see how you'd do, but it wasn't working well. they also had a short film on why the nasdaq was so good and the cutting edge companies that were listed on the naz.

Traders' Expo this weekend in NYC - anyone?

thanks for the reviews and comments guys. i couldn't come down because of other responsibilities on sunday, but sounds like more of the same old. if i was coming down, it would have been to put faces to names, not for the expo per se'. i'm not forex or futures, so most of the tables...
