If that one down stock is Refco I'd short the hell out of it and never cover.

    J Livermoore, Old charts..

Old Dow charts in 20 year periods at stockcharts.com http://stockcharts.com/charts/historical/djia19001920.html The market used to alternate between quiet months and months of extreme volatility. The volatility today is nothing at all compared to the volatility from 1900 to 1945...

does interactive brokers monitor profitablle traders?

Why do people ask questions like this about IB? How is IB or any broker going to know the difference between a trader that is actually skilled and one that is lucky? Look at the clearing firms in Chicago and NY. They watch exchange member accounts very closely and have traders that are very...

Wha'ts the maximum size you can day trade?

The big SP is fungible with the ES, so without an arb profit there is no reason to offset from ES to SP. On 08/15 the volume in ESU8 was 1,473,919 and SPU8 was 26,936. If nonarb offsetting is being done it is SP traders offsetting in the more liquid ES.

    1 tick scalping strategies

How long have you been riding on the rutabaga truck? Unless you have an exchange memebership and can do high volume every day you are wasting your time on any such strategy.

someone explain price spikes to me

Oh wonderful. If the big traders only trade in the same direction that the market is moving then who got it moving in that direction in the first place? If the big traders only trade in the same direction that the market is moving then who gets the market to change direction multiple time a...

someone explain price spikes to me

You completely missed my point. The index futures markets are derivatives markets. The stock market is the prime market and the main participants in the stock market don't worry about the derivatives market. If a fund manager has to buy $200 million of stock they don't concern themselves...

Wha'ts the maximum size you can day trade?

That is not slippage. Slippage is: Price erosion between a Quoted Price and an Execution. You are not going to get a 1000 lot limit order filled in ES without the price going through your limit. It is totally unrealistic to assume that the market will be generous enough to fill your order and...

    Anyone with feedback on DanielsTrading?

Good explantion of introducing broker at: http://invest-faq.com/cbc/trade-intro-broker.html If an IB can do things for you that an FCM won't do, then it is worth using an IB. If you can get what you need direct from the FCM than why bother with an IB. I would suggest you learn more about...

someone explain price spikes to me

The index futures are derivatives markets. The participants in the stock market do what they want when they want to without caring about the derivatives markets.

Trade ES with 100 lots and you will see rather quickly what you can and cannot do.

    Anyone with feedback on DanielsTrading?

Why strange? Daniels Trading is just an introducing broker. Most traders prefer to go direct with a FCM.

Wha'ts the maximum size you can day trade?

Keep in mind that liquidity is not constant during the day. Around 10 this morning ES was trading more than 15,000 contracts a minute and at lunch time less than 2,000 contracts a minute. That 15,000 contracts a minute is not done by trading 10 lots.

Wha'ts the maximum size you can day trade?

Only 100 contracts on ES is BS. Look at the ES DOM yourself. This is a slow summer Friday afternoon and the 1 tick market is running 300 by 300 to 500 by 500.

Wha'ts the maximum size you can day trade?

You can daytrade thousands on the ES if your account is large enough.

    Russell Wide Range

Today ER2 has a 2.43% range (18.10 points) compared to NQ with 1.27% and ES with 0.93%. Is this expiration day oddness or something else?

    T1 line

You don't need a T1 line and it isn't anywhere near 6 seconds faster than a regular internet connection. Your ping time to your broker should be well under 100 ms. For example, to check your internet connection ping time to IB do "ping gw1.ibllc.com" at the Windows command prompt. I have a...
