    Trading systems business

I did a little performance test on what I believe is the Aberration system. It basically performs as indicated on continuous contracts, but when you take roll-over into consideration (with slip, commission etc) the performance deteriorates significantly. Especially the energies goes from looking...

    Professionalism at these "Professional Firms"

candletrader, I did put a smilie after the comment about the Brights. I agree with you 100% I also do think it's great that Bright is paying a bit for all their advertising. Baron is not running a charity, and I'd really like to see him supported by the businesses that use Elite.

Be nice to Don :) He's helping keeping the very board operational with his sponsorship ! I respect that.

Good Traders are rare and hard to come by

I think it's easy to deceived by 3:1 , 15:1 or whatever people claim they use/achieve. The issue is that no-one knows in advance what the reward is, we only have (some) control over the risks we take. I would much rather have people focus on total_wins/total_losses as an indication of how...

    Laptop with multiple monitors Help?

ATI's mobile rage chipset supports two monitors. I have one in my Gateway 9300 solo. The rub is that it's only supported under win98/ME and not Win2000. Be very careful with this. Matrox had the same issue for the longest time, until their software guys figured it out. ATI may have done the...

    Where is Echo ?

I thought I'd close the thread, since I was the one who started it. Rob Keller got back to me today explaining that their email servers had had problems. He provided good information and urged me to call him - which I will do. Thank you all for your help.

    Coaching - a must?

the trick is going to be finding someone who actually successfully trades himself. If you have a good trader friend or can be referred to a trader, thats just about the only way I can see it work. There are lots of charlatans who call themselves trader coaches who have no documented track...

    Where is Echo ?

Travelling for a few days could explain why I haven't heard back, but CAG has been trying for a month. Others I know have indicated similar problems getting hold of anyone at Echo

    Where is Echo ?

I agree. Last year when I first figure out that there was something called "pro" I communicated with Echo several times. That's why I decided to "post for help".

    Where is Echo ?

I actually first called and left a message. Sent email a day later.

    Where is Echo ?

I've tried contacting Echo for the last week now. No responses to any of the emails I've sent (other than the auto-responder), no call backs etc. A friend of mine has been trying to get hold of them for several weeks - same experience. Are they still alive ?

    ESignal

I've tried to get access to the eSignal APIs. In short they have told me that they only license it to "real" companies with products that will promote eSignal. They have no interest in providing the API to individuals. The cost is something like $3000, and you have to take your software through...

    Trading from home

the two main factors in deciding to trade out of your home are imo: 1. do you already trade profitably or do you need to be around other traders who are successful to learn. 2. do you have the personality that enjoys the solitude and quiet at home or do you like the "action" at a firm If...

    DDE speed with IB

Actually, DDE will no longer be supported in the .NET platform, so if you want to use it, you better hurry up :) Microsoft acknowledges that this is early 90s technology that doesn't scale well and performs poorly. DDE also is also not reliable (delivery is not guaranteed - see previous posting...

    IB Routes to NX ?

That is exactly my suspicion. I've had market order fills in seconds or up to minutes in the same security even though the was enough at the bid/ask to fill me. So it appears that orders get different treatment depending on factors outside my control

    IB Routes to NX ?

wonderduck, this is not what tech support at IB told me. They basically said that routing to NX or the specialist was determined by software at the IB Servers and that the decision was depending on factors at the time of your order. I was told that there is nothing I can do to effect order...

    Spreadsheet Streaming Quote Downloads

just look at the code that IB wrote. It's very clear what you need to do if you've programmed a bit before. The code is included in the Excel spreadsheet you can download from IB web site. I responded to the Excel performance question on the seperate thread you created.

    DDE speed with IB

One thing to consider is that Excel isn't exactly a speed demon. Excel doesn't multi-thread, so with lots of quotes coming in, Excel will likely get slow and unresponsive. I doubt it's an issue with 10 to 20 symbols, but I ran into usability limitations in Excel a DDE feed of more than 20...
