    DSL Telco nightmare

if they know what they are doing, they wouldn't even need to come to your house. They only need to allocated a circuit at the local CO to match your phone number. I got my DSL line installed in under 5 days from I called to I had data.

    DSL Telco nightmare

AAA, yep, if it wasn't for a monopoly on local access the local phone companies would have been eliminated by capable and professional competitive providers by now.

    Home based trader isolation issues....

long time ago I proposed to Baron that he creates a forum where traders can "organize" locally (by city, county or something like that). I eventually gave up meeting others in person and now have an online trading buddy I chat with during the day. I'm on the central cost in CA (San Luis...

    Source for historic intra-day quotes

They have hidden it quite well after the new site went up. Here is a link to the the ftp-downloadable tick data. http://www.cme.com/prices/historical_ftp_datafiles/prices_historicalftpdatafiles_timesales.cfm the main link is in the "Quotes" menu. I selected the ftp data, since that what I...

    Source for historic intra-day quotes

the CME has about 3 month of free intraday data. So that's a starting point. I've purchased S&P data from genesis data systems in the past. good experience. www.gfds.com they also have good software to create all the types of bars you'd like from the tick data. Recommended.

    cybertrader bugs?

their support is unrivaled in my experience. Software is very stable. If you trade nasdaq there is simply no way around routing yourself. I finally settled on ISLD and stopped using soes and selectnet (now obsolete anyway).

    IB Improvements (Part 3)

I think I figured it out: the new orders do not work with the edemo account. Works fine with my real account.

    IB Improvements (Part 3)

Have anyone been able to get the MOC, LOO orders to work? I have tried the latest 756.2 but I can't even make "OPG" show up in "time in force" or the new orders types to show up in "type". Any advice appreciated.

    IB Improvements (Part 2)

i had identical problems with 753.6 today (ask > bid, ask size negative, stale "last" etc.). So it's probably not the fault of the new release. Haven't been able to even find the new onOpen and onClose orders in the new version. Release notes seems incorrect

    How we do

I saw figures in the WSJ about a year ago. There were two different pieces of statistics: 1. 90% of all retail commodity traders lose money 2. 75% of all active traders at Schwab do worse than buy & hold. I'm sure there is stats from the retail daytrading shops. I'd be surprised if most...

User Names On Elitetrader (a fun thread)

I own a domain called Viking Analytics. Vikana are just the first three letters from each. The domain is not even in use, but I thought I'd use it anyway. I had a really bad experience using my real name in postings on another board. I literally got 10 phone calls a day from brokers, software...

IB's basket orders disappeared after re-logon to TWS

I havent see that, but it's probably because I also have a page set up that only contains the stocks in the basket. I used this basket page to track open profits in the basket positions and to exit individually if needed. Working basket orders also appear on my own basket page, in addition...

    Charting Software on Linux

peterchr, this is not much of an answer, but your best choice would be a web based products based on Java. Haven't tried on linux, but I bet www.wealth-lab.com would work just fine. I'm referring the the web version, not the stand-alone Windows Developers Desktop. Great product

Looking for better ways to handle today

FloridaTrader .... welcome to trading :) We all try this. One time I hold over night and it gaps against me. Next time I decide to sell on the close and the position gaps in my favor next am. Trading is a game of statistics. Take some of the money off the table on the close, and trail the...

    IB-double fills?

due to the somewhat "clumsy" interface of TWS I have definitely placed orders I didn't intend to. As orders fill TWS will move and re-sort rows. I have more than once cancelled the wrong order, hit transmit on a pending profit exit etc. all because TWS removed and re-sorted rows. Maybe...

    Using DSP

I use signal processing extensively. I find that most of what's written in the trading litterature is very basic (if not flat out wrong or sub-optimal). There is a huge amount of mathematically sound techniques dealing with finding trend, removing noise, general filtering under all types of...
