Affect on buying power of open orders

In addition to IB, does anyone know of other brokers that the buying power is not reduced based on open orders, rather based on filled orders?

    Where are "hidden orders" held?

Perhaps someone knowledgeable can answer this for me: Does anyone know if they are held at the broker, or if they are held at the exchange? Is there such a thing as hidden orders for options as well (and if the same applies for options)? Thanks.

Suggestion for IB: prompting customer if a trade will cancel other outstanding orders

IB has a system that automatically warns you if your trade is going out of certain parameters, and therefore asks you if you really want to place the trade. I would like to suggest that IB also has an automatic "are you sure you really want to place this trade" for the event that placing such...

    DRL manipulation

Thank you for the distinction. I personally wait till the bid is substantially stronger than the ask before buying at the ask. Stock7777: Seems you either only trade stocks that the seller "really wants to sell" OR you only place market orders.

    DRL manipulation

Someone just took out 28,500 shares of their ask, and they did give it to him--unless it's between themselves.

    DRL manipulation

If it is possible to take out the ask, then IMO at rock bottom prices of DRL with no news to support it I must say is very brave of the shorts.

    DRL manipulation

If a market order would work at all, it would probably be with a long delay, and several cents higher. That would be extremely interesting what will happen to the price, as they don't want to short anything more. With a limit order, and now that they are finally matching the ask with a bid...

    DRL manipulation

See the huge size asks on DRL. They have no interest to sell, only to drive the price lower. Earlier today, it took them about an hour to clear out a much smaller size bid. Currently there is an ask for about 48,000 shares. Using DRL as an example, I was wondering what would happen if...

Odd-lot order placement eliminated by IB!!! Please take the poll!

I'm actually talking triggering option orders or cancellations based on if your odd lot of stocks goes thru or not.

Odd Lots on Nasdaq with IB

    1. I am not sure I understood the compromise idea which IBj stated; i.e. will it yes or not be possible to place odd lot orders? 2. Then what does one do to close the position? 3. Note odd lot orders are very useful for customers who place trigger orders, which allows us to leave in...

Odd-lot order placement eliminated by IB!!! Please take the poll!

Even big traders have an important use for odd lot orders, i.e. for trigger orders; we often have dozens of big orders in at a time using triggers.

The SEC Approves New Specialists' Obligations

Does anyone know if this rule final, or if still room for traders (and therefore brokers) to stage their protest? If still room, please provide some kind of link; I would plan to send emails to over 100 brokers to voice their opposition.

The SEC Approves New Specialists' Obligations

I'm sure this will lead to lower prices for NYSE stock trading.:D Also quite sure we'll begin to hear more free trade deals, at least for NYSE stocks.

The SEC Approves New Specialists' Obligations

If this doesn't start a riot, I don't know what will.

The SEC Approves New Specialists' Obligations

In that case, we should all get the same info as them.

Are they able to start the trends themselves, or just join? The driving force behind a price movement is also the one who can pull the plug at any moment. Noting their sophistication and that they have much more info than the retail guy, boy will they have fun.

    Thank you to TOS

I don't know anything about the topic you mentioned, but would have a hard time to believe they would act against their customers (dumb for any company, but that's for sure unlike TOS)
