Good stuff, Datum. And those who are intrigued by this should read your last post (just click his name and his posts: there are only five).

    Futures Trading Analysis

It's only empty if one doesn't understand it. Clearly you do not. As to losing, you're not exactly operating from a position of strength in that regard.

You can't. And both ND and I have answered this question umpteen times. But ms doesn't want to hear it and pretends he's asking it for the first time. But I'll post this again as all I have to do is copy and paste: Your edge begins with the knowledge you gain through your research and testing...

Anyone who's interested in this can always look at the month's charts I posted to the Foresight Thread, at the beginning. I attempted to show why some breakouts work and some don't, but this pretty much whizzed by most everybody. But it's at least there and done for those who can view it with an...

So? Truth was not born with Univac. Candlesticks are four hundred years old, yet many people use them. Before 1990, not so much. What you "know" of the markets is what you've read or heard or been told. None of what you think you know was learned by studying the markets. That's why your system...

Breakout Trading - Smart Play or Fool's Game?

If you're testing several variables simultaneously in order to save time, you'll find that this would have taken far less time if you had tested each variable independently. There is also the possibility/probability that even if you find something that meets your standards of success, you won't...

Breakout Trading - Smart Play or Fool's Game?

Depends on what it's breaking out of. As well as "the environment" (see the thread MarketAddict just started). Incidentally, "trying" is not the same as testing, nor is "seems to be" the same as data collection and analysis.

Very much so. What's the first word infants learn? "No".

The lion might react to the noise, but he wouldn't "feel" fear. That would come later.

You'd have to know what experiences they had from the time they were born. The young of all species are risk-takers. If they weren't, they'd never learn. Most likely they'd die. Which in an evolutionary sense would extinguish the non-risk-taking behavior.

Breakout Trading - Smart Play or Fool's Game?

Interesting how so many people who trade price trade pretty much the same way. It would be nice if this sort of thing could be discussed, but that requires an expansive Ignore list, and why should that be necessary?

"Development" has to do with how the biological organism develops absent environmental influence, not just how it's modified by its environment.
