    Opening Orders - 2008

No fills on full positions, stupid BMC took me down on 1000 shares. Didn't see any news on it. -338 on the day all told. Would have been a nice day if my 6 other fills were full size.

That's the real trick, isn't it? Waiting could get you back even, or it could double your losses (or worse). Today I did wait, and it didn't matter.

    Opening Orders - 2008

One of those days today where nothing really wanted to cooperate. Luckily I was mostly filled on small test positions. 1 long scratch on a test position, 4 short (3 losers and a win, all but one a test position), -476, 3400 shares

    Capital Gains Rate to 28%?

That's why the Democrats have their moderate candidate, John McCain, to ride to the rescue :D

    Comcast Ups Speed with "Blast"

The key phrase here is "UP TO 16Mbps". Time Warner Cable recently offered "Turbo" to double its speed to 15Mbps for around $9 extra a month. But I'm not noticing any difference. I don't think the rest of the internet can keep up with that speed yet.

    Router recommendations?

Been using Xincom DPG502 twin WAN router since last January, never any problem. Have cable with a DSL line for backup hooked into it, automatically switches over seamlessly when there is an outage.

    Opening Orders - 2008

Got lucky being hyper conservative and pulled AIG based on other insurance earnings news. Didn't see any AIG news preopen; looks like it was one of those inevitable "land mines" to hose OPGers. 4 long, all on test positions, 3 wins and a loss, +101, 1300 shares Hope no one got hit too...

    Opening Orders - 2008

Doc appointment yesterday, so didn't participate. Today 2 long, a win and a scratch on a test position, +130, 3100 shares. And it was like pulling teeth to get that. Have a great weekend everyone.

It is overcrowded and exploited to death. There is no edge other than the trader's own ability to trade.

    Opening Orders - 2008

Got ganged up on this morning. Not a stellar effort on my part, as patience would have paid off, but was looking at red in almost every position. 4 long (1 win, 3 losses), 3 short losses, +73, 9300 shares Had three small test positions mixed in, and bigger size in my winner helped to...

Took yesterday off. Scratch day today as I got filled only on one test position. Congrats to the Giants fans.

Thanks Chiguy, right back at you. Rhino - I have no rules on how long to hold, I just like to be flat if there is an economic report coming out. Holding longer is something I need to work on, but in general I'd say I'm out within 20 minutes most days. Each stock is different and has to be...

Good start to the month and weekend. 4 long (2 small test positions, 3 wins, 1 scratch) 5 short (2 test positions, 4 wins, 1 loss), +2279, 13300 shares I never root for the NFC, but this year I am. Somebody's gotta knock off the hated Patriots. GO GIANTS!

    Laying cable in Dubai

Wow that's an old, old email. At least a decade. I liked "Mahcollig Jazzvarted, and Levdaroom D'Basted" For those who have never heard the audio file, it was a couple of pranksters making up names and having the airlines page people over the PA system. Usually after a middle eastern flight...

I'm manual on my exits. Just treat your fill like any other trade during the day. With the exception of morning volatility, I don't think there's really anything special about OPG exits. Each stock will behave differently. Once you get enough fills in a given stock, you'll learn what to expect...

No fills. Blocked a gaggle of 'em on news.

    Opening Orders - 2008

You can start with the Dow stocks and work up from there. Each stock is different; you just need to try them out with tiny size and evaluate whether you can make money off of them. If not, ditch them. News is a judgement call. Big stuff like earnings is obviously something you would eliminate...
