    Good book on E-mini futures

Have you done much trading before this? Just out of curiosity, what basic strategy are you using? Hang in there with the paper-trading until you find something that is working-the cheaper you can make your education, the better. It is going to be difficult and frustrating for awhile.

time of day to hold for dividend

You can trade it as much as you want the day prior to ex-div. You would need to buy sometime before the close and then hold overnight in order to collect the dividend. On the x-date the price of the stock will be marked down by the amount of the dividend, so it is a wash.

    Good book on E-mini futures

I don't trade e-mini's but the previous post sounds like excellent advice for most any daytrading. The more screen-time you can get, the better.

Tell me how Tech Analysis was supposed to forecast this flash-crash?

Technical analysis can't "predict" a seemingly random event that may affect the markets, i.e. some batsh-t crazy people running a plane into a building. Then again, fundamental analysis can't predict an unpredictable event either. What we need for the above example is fundamentalist analysis...

Wall Street II is a Disaster

I watched about half of the original movie awhile back, in preparation for the sequel, and the scenes with Gecko were great. I thought Charlie Sheen was over-acting to the point of being borderline annoying. As for the sequel, I understand that it would have been difficult to avoid inclusion...

    Wrong Fair Value Premiums

Who cares what the OP was asking about? That was 5 years ago? HF, you seem to be pretty new here based on your # of posts, so here is the quick and dirty guide to how things work: 1. There are some smart and probably successful traders here that, if the question is phrased to their liking...

    generating 1000 $ per month on 150 k investment

Thanks for the links! I'm guessing in most cases, trading on daily signals with the 200 day is going to create many more false signals that will hurt performance. Perhaps this sort of logic could be applied to moving averages in different time frames to reduce whipsaws and improve performance...

    generating 1000 $ per month on 150 k investment

I can't speak for Atticus of course, but the strategy makes sense since he isn't trying to trade out of option positions to avoid assignment. There would be lower risk of the position moving deep itm and having to work out of a big hole when assigned. Perhaps there is more of a comfort level...

    Consumers dropping pay TV

I love introductory rates. They make it so easy to get yourself hooked and then before you know it, your bill starts to blow up. No matter how much you cut out of your service, the bill just keeps steadily creeping up, every few months, they seem to tack on an extra few dollars. You practically...

    Consumers dropping pay TV

I stopped over at the local Radio Shack and picked up a $35 indoor antenna. The picture quality looks pretty great for the dozen or so channels available. The TV in my house sits idle for sometimes days at a time already, so I don't think I'll miss cable one bit. Tomorrow I'm going to head...

    Consumers dropping pay TV

I am so annoyed with myself for continuing to pay $100/month for cable. If I sat down and calculated the cost per hour, I'd probably get even angrier. For me, the cable addiction comes down to ease of use. I don't want to do a lot of searching around the internet looking for content. After...
