    Developing a profitable system(infrastructure) on a (pseudo-)random data

Yep it is very brute force .... slow .... it has been running for several hours but at least I am starting to get meaningful & enlightening results. I have also tried Neuroshell (which seemed useless) and APS (which was useful but not flexible). What would you recommend? I know there is another...

    A planet with no money

Cuba practically paradise for agricuture, fishing, lumber, mineral wealth, and offshore petroleum. However much of it is not developed. (Maybe not so much going forward, due to the oil spill)

    A planet with no money

Sanaz, maybe move to Cuba. The economy that is fairly isolated from the Western ills, and 99% don't have any money or any way to accumulate it. So for practical purposes that is what you are looking for. I would say Haiti but that's almost unfair because of the lack of diversity in natural...

    A planet with no money

Well yeah this does seem really stupid, but I think you do realize that the "ills from money and power" are ills from the "greed for money and power". The stupid part is the assumption that humans can become more "highly evolved".

    A planet with no money

So there is no opportunity to get ahead of your neighbor, as the needs of everyone are met in the same way. Sounds like communism/socialism, and it would work just as well. :p

    Math question

Looks like a perfect solution is beyond my scope, but with this method I have a pretty good approximation. Visually, it is what I was looking for.

Thanks, but I do want a straight line that minimize the the maximum distance (of any point) to the line.

    Math question

I know how to calculate a least-squares regression, which minimizes the sum of the squares of the distances to the line. Instead, I want to minimize the the maximum distance (of any point) to the line. Can someone point me in the right direction .... is there a formula or would it be some...

It is exchange regulation (trading with yourself could be used for market manipulation) No reason to do it anyway, you need to fix your system.

    Consumer prices keep posting declines.

Higher education is heavily subsidized by the government. At the state level of course, and at the federal level you have scholarships, loans, and grants. Within the health care bill they are dropping any pretense of private risk, and are just handing out loans directly (Sallie Mae).

Defending student loans and the American education system.

I am surprised at all the harsh replies. He has the student debt but got a useable degree and prospects to pay it off. This story is a reminder that opportunities in the US are still above and beyond many other countries. But continue down the road of socialism, and one day we will be like Cuba.
