Clinton Backer Says Obama Only Winning Because He's Black

That's what's so weird about her comment. At least Obama picked himself to run for office, and people are voting for him, not his running mate. Keith Obermann ripped her and Hilary new ones in his special comment yesterday.

    Alan Dershowitz defends Spitzer

Apples and oranges. Clinton didn't skate, he got impeached as a result of his affair with Monica. Frank didn't skate: he got investigated by the House. OTOH, Vitter has totally skated. He even got a standing ovation. Must be a Republican thing. Hell, even Craig, who the Republicans didn't...

Men: Do you have sympathy for Spitzer for cheating?

You're assuming a lot. Some guys go to hookers for kinky sex their wives don't want to participate in. Heck, some wives probably encourage it, to keep the guy happy. As long as he's not bringing home a disease, she's happy to give him straight sex and leave the kinky stuff elsewhere. And...

Why do I see "Trends" in Randomly Generated Data?

Did you look at the data? If there's something in there to account for stock splits, I apologize. If, as I suspect, there's not, you should.

    Enough already! It's not random

I believe we're basically in agreement here. I wasn't arguing that price has no random component; that would be silly. My attack was on random walk, which says that price is fundamentally random, even with a drift component. You and I both recognize the serial correlations, which are...

    Enough already! It's not random

So you think random walk theory supports serial correlation. Yes, you should go read a book.

MAESTRO 02-22-08 09:51 AM "At any point of time the probability of the trend to continue or reverse is still 50/50. Price patterns are for idiots who have no education. It is a religion and as any religion it has rituals – one of them is trend!" What you and your supporters are too...

Speaking of childish, why can't YOU post actual counter evidence? :D :p P.S. I don't do .doc

Why do I see "Trends" in Randomly Generated Data?

Did those guys account for stock splits in their data? :D I can see it now: "Oh no, my stock price just dropped in half! I gotta sell! I gotta short sell!!" LMAO

    Enough already! It's not random

*SIGH* Allow me to clarify, and sorry for assuming too much that people would do a google on "runs test" (just press "I feel lucky", it takes you straight to wikipedia): The chance of getting 1,332 run sequences from a random sequence of 1,315 ups and 1,197 downs is one out of 1,073(!)...

    Enough already! It's not random

Ah, another believer in the FAKE Nobel prize in economics. That explains a lot about your conviction. You DID know the Nobel prize in Economics is fake, didn't you? :D :D

    Enough already! It's not random

It's the path that actually happened, as opposed to countless "alternate-universe" paths that didn't. Bullshit. You're clutching at straws, strawman. Your complete lack of counter evidence is duly noted, nitwit. :D :D

    Enough already! It's not random

The two values are 'up' and 'down'. According to the random walkers, those two things appear in a fixed ratio and the runs test automatically accounts for that. It doesn't matter if it's 50/50 or 70/30. The test provides very strong evidence that the run sequences are not randomly generated...

    Enough already! It's not random

Actually the typical random walker rant is more like this: I don't think the 50/50 crowd deserves any mercy with adjustments for T-bills and the like. They set the rules ("it's 50/50, idiots!") so they should have to live with the consequences when they are PROVEN WRONG.

    Enough already! It's not random

I agree, if you substitute the word "unpredictable" for "random". The digits of π exhibit statistical randomness. But they are obviously not randomly generated. The next uncalculated digit of π is unpredictable, but it's not random. The problem is that economics, despite all...

    Enough already! It's not random

"Each nucleus decays spontaneously, at random, in accordance with the blind workings of chance" -- John Gribbin If you were a quantum physicist, you would know this.
  17. kut2k2

    Enough already! It's not random

Incorrect. Radioactive decay is provably random, and it exists in nature. But that's not the point. The point is that just because something is unpredictable, seemingly or actually, that doesn't mean it's random. Especially when we know the "something" is just an aggregate of human...

Dear fellow technician, this thread is for YOU. The next time some random walking idiot tries to rain on your efforts to find a technical edge while talking down to you like you're a small child, just direct his arrogant ass to this thread. Maybe it's not too late for *him* to learn...

Money management, is this all you need?

Over 80 posts in ET in your first 8 days. You're the last one to be talking about not enough things to do, loser. :D :D

Money management, is this all you need?

Yes, let's all pretend the three paragraphs I posted after that had nothing to do with the topic. Whatever your problem with me is, get over it, newbie. You're just a gnat buzzing around my head. And now you're on my ignore list.
