    Is day trading worth it?

I recently read a thread over a BMT-- a guy was asking if there was any proof of small at-home daytraders who grew their account into something they could make a living from. No responses, until finally one guy chimes in and claimed to have done it. Said he made roughly the same as he made...

    Is day trading worth it?

In my opinion--- NO. Even if you can get into the 1% who are profitable, you will have to make a LOT of money to compensate yourself for all the stress, uncertainty, lack of benefits, lack of access to credit, years of unprofitability before you "made it", etc. Not to mention all the...

    Surfer Alerts

Sadly, indextrader7 only serves to prove Surf's points. He seems like a nice guy, well intentioned and very hard working, but thusfar trading has not worked out for him. He has posted about his results on another site since leaving ET. He tried to start a CTA last year and lost double...

    Something not often mentioned

For all the time and effort it must take to become profitable, and all the work and stress that must go along with staying profitable--- it's hard to imagine how daytrading could ever work out to be a better deal than even a below average normal job. No security, no benefits, no access to...

    Cornix's TA Performance

Agree, let's give it some more time to see how it plays out. A few weeks of breakeven trading is nothing to worry about. The "educators" and hindsight superstars will never concede this, but drawdown is a fact of life. It took me a while to figure out the truth too--- the tales of making...

    Cornix's TA Performance

Cornix can still beat the 20% figure--- he must be a little below breakeven at this point. Hardly an insurmountable hole to dig out of in the next 11 months. But also a long way from what Al Brooks and his cult of true believers promote as returns to aspire to! A good lesson in market reality...

    Cornix's TA Performance

Exactly. That is the conclusion I had come to after clearing my head of all the hype and misinformation that exists around trading.

TA - Objective or Psychological Skill?

Going by the account shown on Surf's journal he was on pace for 40% in a year. I hope he can make it happen!

TA - Objective or Psychological Skill?

Perhaps the reason why Cornix is dreaming is that he is being fed lies by his TA comrades--- it's quite possible that he believes the claims of TA expert and other brigade members are attainable. If he can make good on his promise of 20-40% returns then he shouldn't have any money worries in...

Anyone using the old AHG method sucessfuly?

Saw this news story today and made me think of this thread. LOL! "Man admits electrocuted alien story was a hoax" http://www.nbcnews.com/video/nbcnews.com/52179408/?from=en-us_msnhp#52179439 Maybe someday we'll read a headline "Man admits internet trading guru story was a hoax" LOL! :D

TA - Objective or Psychological Skill?

Agreed, many things thought impossible in the past have been proven very possible. Perhaps one day someone will succeed in achieving the kind of consistent results that are told of in daytrading folklore. I would love to see someone do it!

TA - Objective or Psychological Skill?

I think boundaries are there, not strictly defined but still there. For example, a human can train as a runner but there are still boundaries to how fast he can run. No person will run as fast as a cheetah.

TA - Objective or Psychological Skill?

My problem isn't with TA necessarily, but rather the grossly inaccurate portrayals of what is possible with it that abound on the internet. I do not doubt there are profitable traders that use some form of TA. Just don't talk to me about turning 10k into 80k year after year after year.... LOL!

    Cornix's TA Performance

Yes, I agree. Sure there will be outlier performances from time to time, but those kind of returns are not sustainable. An average 20% consistently year in year out is a world class performance. The wishful thinkers and true believers will disagree, but as you say, the very nature of the...

Anyone using the old AHG method sucessfuly?

I don't know how anyone can still buy this guy and his TA tales--- just goes to show how desperate some are to believe. Amazing how he kept people going for so many years. Others have done far worse and charged money for it but nonetheless what a waste of time and life for all involved.

    Cornix's TA Performance

So far no claims of stratospheric returns or no losing days-- looks legit so far and nothing yet to trip the BS-o-meter. He acknowledges there will be shitty weeks and months. In his micro account example, the $3,000 account went to $3,200 in 2 months--- that's $4,200 after a year--- a 40%...

    Surfer Alerts

I don't think it's too much for Surf to ask that posters in his journal refrain from mentioning/advertising their services on the surf report. After all, that is what 'Xpert' was doing--- his unsubstantiated claims about the huge returns and trading sizes of his students were sure to attract...

If I had to guess, i would say the concerns here stem from a case of guilt by association--- referring in this case to the 'TA Expurt' who has been a known associate of conrix. As I recall he was accused of being a stealth vendor and a liar, and that accusation was proven to be accurate. I...

So far no TopStep success stories of the caliber you are looking for. They reportedly do have some profitable traders--- but none yet in the six figure or high five figure earning categories. Their target demographic is the at-home non firm affiliated traders you speak of, so this is...
