    Do intraday shorts pay interest?

OTOH why would anyone commit to lend shares if they're probably not getting paid for it?

    Do intraday shorts pay interest?

Also, if the above is true, what's the point of requiring a locate for shares that will never be borrowed?

    Do intraday shorts pay interest?

If you short something at the beginning of the day and buy it back before the end of day, do you avoid having to pay interest on borrowed shares? The settlements get netted out by DTCC.

Why do exchanges like CBOE have fees for order cancellation?

How are they able to tell who placed the order? Can TWS provide that sort of data? Is there any way to stay anonymous?

Why do exchanges like CBOE have fees for order cancellation?

It seems to me like cancellation fees would deter people from placing orders in the first place, which would reduce liquidity a lot. So exchanges are shooting themselves in the foot with high cancellation fees. Change my mind.

    Are GTC limit orders -EV?

So if you have 100 shares of CACC that you intend to sell at $400, then you should write a $400 strike call on CACC every month? Makes sense -- at least then you're collecting a premium for committing to sell at $400.

    Are GTC limit orders -EV?

Due to a merger rumor or something, the fair value of any stock could intraday gap past your limit order and you could get past-posted (an analogy to placing a bet on roulette after the ball has landed). You could end up selling at your limit price, way below the new fair value. OTOH, if the...

Why can't I set "liquidate last" on a synthetic short?

How do you disaggregate it so it shows the synthetic short as two unrelated option positions? that would probably fix my problem.

Why can't I set "liquidate last" on a synthetic short?

On the portfolio page of TWS, I can set liquidate last on individual options, unless they're part of an option combo. Set Liquidate Last is greyed out for the synthetic short overall + both legs of it.

Why can't I set "liquidate last" on a synthetic short?

Is it just gonna buy the underlying to delta hedge it in the event of a margin deficit?

Warren Buffett says Berkshire sold all its airline stocks because of the coronavirus

So they spend $1/passenger extra to give every passenger a disposable surgical mask, problem solved. Southwest is typically way more expensive than spirit.

Execution price when the bid exceeds the ask

You're telling me there's another auction at 4am, before the opening auction at 9:30am?

Warren Buffett says Berkshire sold all its airline stocks because of the coronavirus

Last week because it was still overvalued to relative to DCF and oil was going negative. PE 13 with negative revenue growth over the last 15 years. It deserves a share price of $30 instead of $45.

Warren Buffett says Berkshire sold all its airline stocks because of the coronavirus

Buffett WAS the greatest, but he hasn't had an edge since 1998. He's too old and too wedded to holding no matter how absurdly overpriced his assets are (KO). Peter Lynch wisely retired before losing it.

Warren Buffett says Berkshire sold all its airline stocks because of the coronavirus

I got spirit for $10, and DCF says it's worth at least triple that given any plausible amount of losses this year. They're the low cost provider, like walmart / costco / standard oil. Big margins despite having the lowest prices. The inefficient+unprofitable airlines will die first leaving...

Execution price when the bid exceeds the ask

If at the beginning of the pre-market Alice has a buy limit order for 100 shares of XYZ at $101 and Bob has a sell limit order for 100 shares of XYZ at $99, what's the execution price? Whichever order arrived first gets the whole $200? Or do they both get fucked out of $200 by HFT? I'm...

    IB's most ridiculous margin requirement

Bunds are margined as if they could go to -14% YTM overnight. I guess IB doesn't want people competing with 1.5% margin interest by shorting bunds.

IB customers lose $88m trading WTI crude

All cash settled futures are vulnerable to this. You could exploit the exploiter by putting some big hidden limit orders outside the normal range on the physical futures to catch a flash crash like that. But then you might end up with a lot of oil to pick up. Presumably those rights could be...
