Can you make sense of these technicals?

The last time you claimed I made posts all day, I had actually spent that whole day touring the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Then I made a few posts from my hotel that night. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rlncnaptn8saivm/Polish_20200208_220128972.jpg?dl=0

Can you make sense of these technicals?

Can you explain? I had planned on entering trades that would close at a SL or TP. In which case, I don't know how long it will be. I do know that if you make the timeframe too long or too short, trends (and probably all technicals) become meaningless.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Any idea what particular technicals they use? Or even an educated guess?

ES mini futures ahead of NFP release

Ok. I think 60M is too long to tell the immediate effects of that news release.

Can you make sense of these technicals?

Even if not busy with my other business (which will always take priority over this), I'll be busy with something... But even if I had all the free time in the world, I wouldn't want to spend it staring at charts. I am okay with placing trades ahead of an event perhaps? But I can't see myself...

So don't respond to them. I've never even heard of you before right now.

Can you make sense of these technicals?

Funny story: I'm in India right now. Not for business, just for fun. 4 days in Delhi (includes day trip to Agra), 3 in Kolkata, 3 in Mumbai. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7b5dmptuud3hvmg/Polish_20200208_151737723.jpg?dl=0

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

I'm actually an extremely busy person.

Can you make sense of these technicals?

Very simple... 9ema and 90wma... I would think that when the 9 rises above 90, it would signal a buy. And vice versa. But it seems that the opposite happens. I'm looking at ESH20 futures. Also, it happens on average once every few days. So not enough examples to make a good screenshot to post.

How can you even claim that technicals matter?

Can short-term be longer than a day?

    How to trade single currencies?

I understand that could happen. But it's a lot less likely than trading directly against 1 other currency. As far as I'm presently aware, there is no better way to track 1 currency than against a basket.

    How to trade single currencies?

But the dollar is 50% USD vs. 50% "basket." Whereas USD/JPY is 50% of each. It's just as much moved by the other random currency I chose.

    How to trade single currencies?

Of course. And at this point, trading around something fundamental like a data release makes most sense to me. Whether or not TA can work under certain circumstances, it still seems very arbitrary to me.

    How to trade single currencies?

Trading data releases is reinventing the wheel?

    How to trade single currencies?

These futures contracts track a currency against a basket of other currencies. Rather than just 1. So on this jobs report, I wouldn't have lost due to the JPY doing well. I would not be forced to put so much weight against one other currency. (Although I guarantee JPY is part of that basket)

    How to trade single currencies?

We all know that currencies trade in pairs. But what if I had a guess about just one? I didn't want the 2nd of the pair to distort my results. Are there futures contracts for this? I asked this as part of another post, but I thought it deserved it's own thread.

ES mini futures ahead of NFP release

Ok. I now think this was the result of JPY doing well. Cause USD is up against most other pairs since the release. JPY is way up against every one I've checked so far. That's the problem with currencies. You have to bet in pairs. Is there a USD futures contract? DXY?

ES mini futures ahead of NFP release

You can see the same type of reaction looking at the ES chart. I verified that it was a reaction to the data release by looking at a 1 second chart (as oppose to leading up to the news release). And, btw here's a daily chart of the past 3 months of USD/JPY. Today's action is so small you can't...

ES mini futures ahead of NFP release

I went ahead and entered another bullish position a couple minutes before the news release. I went long on USD/JPY. Here's the results. The release was at 8:30. I realized that the 30-60 second delay it takes me to get the news is way too long to react as quickly as the market. I got the news...

Ok. How to calculate how much you might lose? Or probably better way to put it... Where to place your stop-loss.
