    Taking 45K to a 100K by year end 2012

2.5% is my max risk per trade (to my stops). I cant actually trade larger than that due to margin requirements of having several positions, in different markets, open at the same time. As i said in my first post, im a day trader.

    Taking 45K to a 100K by year end 2012

Week 6 ====== £4101 loss Closing Balance: £52001 Peak equity this year: £56991 Current drawdown: 9% This is what speculative trading always comes down to: losses and drawdowns. Otherwise it would be easy and everyone would be rich. The account could still fall below the...

    2012: The Battle for Survival

Neke posted at the end of last year that he will be removing $6,000 at the end of each month. If i recall correctly it think he said 60K a year so that will be 10 withdrawals of this size.

    Taking 45K to a 100K by year end 2012

Week 5 ===== £6652 profit Closing Balance: £56102 I started the year with a 1.75% position sizing risk per trade, with a view to decreasing to 1% if things started to go badly but increasing to 2.5% per trade when things went well. With the profits this week i can start sizing for...

    95% of traders...

Hard to say what the numbers are, catching knives is a common failing, but so is getting on board too late after a news event only to see things reverse. But the biggest reason why traders fail is supposedly bad exits, not always bad entries, wether they are trend following or fading, traders...

India has opened up to foreign traders

The entire move (ie the range) is 50 dollars per contract? How many dollars is 1 tick? How much is the commission per contract?

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I wish the UK Conservative party would stop with 'in principle we have no objection to FTT' line. They know FTT is anti free markets and they should have the balls to say so. I guess being in opposition for 12 years has had this effect. And Thatcher should have abolished share stamp duty in...

    Taking 45K to a 100K by year end 2012

For January 2012, I paid around £500 commissions and data fees to IB and the exchanges. Extrapolated over the year that would be about £6000 pounds. January wasn't a very volatile month for intra day trading (at least compared to last year, although it was more volatile than say January...

    Becoming an independent trader

Great post GOC. The late great Steve jobs sums this up exactly in this video, he is talking generally, but it so sounds like he talking specifically about speculation and trading: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/gxo2rGr7Yfg" frameborder="0"...

    Taking 45K to a 100K by year end 2012

Im not interested in posting individual trade setups, neither am i interested in reading about other peoples trade setups and individual trade results. I have my method of trading, developed over the last 8 years, and other people tend to have completely different ways of trading. Im more...

    Taking 45K to a 100K by year end 2012

January 2012 ========= +£4341 Closing Balance: £49341 A profitable first month of trading to start the year. Up almost 10% for the month. But I still havent built enough of a cushion that a draw down wont take the account negative relative to the start of the year. Also as i am...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I was speaking to a trader in a prop firm in london who manually makes markets in government bonds futures. Puts in bid/offers and moves them up and down, trying to earn the spread. He said as long as his firm gets a market maker exemption from FTT he might actually do well after FTT especially...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Mr Sarkozy said France was "aligning" itself more with Germany rather than with its "British friends" by supporting industry and launching plans to unilaterally impose a 0.1pc tax on financial transactions. The President's comments in Brussels followed his statement earlier in the day that...

    Taking 45K to a 100K by year end 2012

I trade through both a Ltd company account and also through a personal account. Approximately the first 40K per year of dividends paid to you from companies do not attract income tax, only corporation tax at around 20%. The first 10K of capital gains from the personal account are tax free...
