What did bank do with TARP? reward a select few individuals with big bonuses at the cost of 1 trillion+
If we would have handed americans 1 trillion in money to spend it would have been much more stimulative to the economy than tarp and probably get us out of the recession.
Would the US govt come to a halt and have to issue IOUs like california instead of more dollarbills printed?
How would this effect the markets and the average joe
I find it interest that TARP was not involved and the financial industry is working out themselves.
I wonder if TARP never happened if it would have forced the banks to work with each other
I got this error from etrade
Your sell short order cannot be processed. Either you do not have a margin account or short sales in this security are not allowed. You can find an explanation of short sales in under the Buying and Selling Stocks section.
I put in an order to short 25,000...
This is why I am so dissapointed in Obama. He is going by the same playbook that got us into trouble. I wonder how long before the Administration changes tactics.
There seems to be so much uncertainty but somehow the VIX does not seem to really reflect this? or is it because people are just not buying insurance and stocks anymore as in the past?
I don't think this will work like before, I know the last few Jobless recoveries worked because consumers were able to borrow money.
But I think they are not willing to borrow anymore. I wonder of the Administration will figure this out?
I am not an expert on this stuff, I am still learning but maybe the dotted lines scare potential buyers? Why would anyone borrow money to go underwater the moment they are handed the keys.
The days of perpetual leasing and buying new cars is pretty much done.
I remember back in the 70s that people did not go out and have a new auto every 2-3 years.
I think the new normal will be the old normal.
