    Tracktrade

Hmm... I am thinking of openning another account with Tracktrade and therefore found this thread through a search on ET. I was with mytrack a couple of years ago and wasn't happy (for what exactly I don't remember, probably datafeed delay), so I closed the account. This is certainly a...

Contacts with the heavy hitters Prop desks

If I had such a system, I would just trade my own fund, not to bother with OTM. Also, the law of deminishing returns with the increase of pool size will surely kick in...

    A perfect strategy ... ? Yes ...

Brilliant idea indeed. But in practice, should you consider close-end funds' premium/discount factors, which then becomes very quantitative? Or just KISS, relying on the generally accepted fact that most funds underperform? tc

S&P Futures: Mini or Big Contract

Dave and SumJurk, Thanks for your input. ES volume certainly has increased during the last 2-3 years--not unusual to see 1 million volume days now. Seems index futures trading has reached the point of no return, the point being the E--electronic trading. It doesn't bode well for CME...

S&P Futures: Mini or Big Contract

I wonder if there is anyone here who trades S&P Big Contract instead of the Mini. Mini obviously has its "edge" mainly in it being traded eletronically. But as you move up in size, is there any advantage for the big contract, in terms of minimum tick, commission, etc? I traded the...

Don't we here at ET think we are in the crowd? :D Oh, to clarify, harrytrader, the above is not a quote from you, but a quote from the article you posted, right? tc

    Interesting tax recommendation on CNBC

I am waiting to see if the above will stand IRS's review. 2002 was the year I started very actively trading (without electing MTM). For that year's tax return, I excluded the so called "wash sales" and as a result the total sales price does not agree with the proceeds reported by my broker on...

Unfair? IB calendar(!!) month unbundled commisions ?

Agree with Gringinho--commission rate calculation should be on a continuous basis. IB's "unbunddle rate" is not only unfair but very unwise if it wants to keep its volume traders. tc

    Beware of Tradestation

Out of ignorance, is $20 ECN book fee the same as exchange fee (like NYSE/NASDAQ/CME)? If not, it is outrageous. tc

    No More Traditional Brokers

I wonder who is really on the other side. Seems that the spread is wide (4 cents for NT and 8 for JNJ, for example). And there IS a fee for transaction ($.05 for 1 share of NT and $1 for 1 share of JNJ). Whoever operates this takes a fat cut. A sucker's game, IMO. tc

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

In poker, especially NL hold'em, every decision is situational. In one online tourney, I once folded QQ when someone went all-in because I was close to getting into the final table if I just hung in there for a while. You have to decide what is the best move in that particular situation...
